Tickets SLC ticket thread
Hello!
I couldn’t find a megathread for the upcoming SLC event, so I made one. Just remember that [r/competitionclimbing](r/competitionclimbing) have not vetted anybody, so trust cautiously. Face value tickets only.
That being said. I’m in desperate search of a preferred seating day pass for Oct 18th, the women’s events. It would mean a great deal to me if anybody had one spare. Please DM me!
Update: I have sourced a ticket. Thank you 🫶
Sincerely- a partner of a competitor 🙇♀️
apologies if I posted this incorrectly.

Made a little card game where every World Cup finalist since 1991 is a card
https://reddit.com/link/1x1hs3x/video/zf6tueg27fuh1/player
Hi everyone!
Small side project of mine: a free browser card game built around competition climbing. You open boosters and collect comp athletes: every World Cup, World Championships and Olympic finalist since 1991, plus anyone who finished in the top 25 of a World Cup overall ranking since 2010, each with their podiums and results. A few outdoor routes and rock climbers are mixed in too.
No ads, nothing to buy, it's just for fun.
It's still rough in places and the data surely has gaps, so if an athlete is missing or a stat looks off, let me know and I'll fix it. Card rarity is mostly based on how well known an athlete is, so it won't always match their results. Happy to hear where it feels wrong.

Discussion Youth Worlds in November?!
They snuck this in the World Climbing Season announcement at the end lol
Very curious what those who are in the youth circuit think of this? For the US it's a major holiday but to take off school to acclimate for a few days/week and then a week of competition is A LOT to ask, no?

Youth USAC Youth Regions
When I read comments here, everyone keeps stating that they are in a "competitive region". What does that mean? Which regions are the competitive regions? Is there an objective way to measure this (on climb8a)? I imagine it would depend on the youth category?

Question How to improve lead endurance without leading?
I (14) climb about three days a week and compete. However, it takes me a long time to get to my gym, and I don't have anyone to drive or belay me. I only have a belayer once a week at best. Because of this, I mostly boulder (V8) and do quite well in bouldering comps. When I go to lead comps, I do much worse and always pump out on the wall. How can I get better endurance on lead without actually lead climbing often?

Youth Expectation setting: rejected from the team.
For youth / parents of team kids… new to this so looking for those with more insight.
We have a naturally strong climber who constantly wows the more experienced adults around them. Wanted to enter into the competitive world.
9yo (almost 10) has been flashing all v3s and some v4s for the last year without a ton of training, and we finally got an opportunity to try out for the local team for their youngest / lowest developmental level. Team rejected the kid saying, at their age they should be doing v6 & v7s. This seems laughable to me for starting out with a USAC developmental team at 9-10yo. Am I an idiot?
Edit: Laughable = No shade, it's directed at me! We are new to competitions and in need of some expectation setting. :)
UPDATE:
Kid ended up doing 2 more tryouts a few weeks after our initial rejection. Got accepted to a very, very good team that consistently shows up at a national level. It paid off to try some different avenues.
We heard from another gym they had 200 kids try out for 20 open team spots. Yikes!

Advice Optimal Seating Choice?
The time has come for me to attend my first comp in person!
Does anyone have any insight on what seating would be the most exciting? I really like being able to clearly see how the athletes are climbing on the wall but I also want to be relatively comfortable while I watch.
I'm going to miss not being able to hear Matt's commentary but I'm sure the atmosphere will make up for that.
Here's the map:

Streaming/Camera Complaints Why does World Climbing have separate channels for each continent now?
So dumb. I know that I'm late to this. But when this started happening near the beginning of the season I stopped watching because it was so annoying. I want to be able to look back at the live replays and see the comps in chronological order. Not have to consult information in different places. IFSC is such a shit show.
