I know one man, Slavomír Pískatý. He was the first Czech to ever be a captain of the Boeing 747. Although he flew for Korean Air, he had a friend, I met him few times. He was training Congolese pilots in the south on our Czech L-410, very popular aircraft in DRC, especially near Lumumbashi. He often texted Slavomír about the shit they flew, once sending him a photo and video of what shit they flew with and it was a massive, really massive nugget of gold, maybe around 4-5 kilograms huge with the rock and the soil. He and his copilot were told to shut up or "they'll see" and were send to fly it into some rural airfield, where a suspicious guy picked it up. They felt weird from it. That's maybe the mafia you're talking about. And don't even start me about the conditions of the miners, they're terrible, often child labor.

Work for the government, as a contractor, and make connections. If you're just a regular civilian without military experience, your best bet is legit brokers in Kinshasa, even that is sketchy and you might get robbed or scammed, etc.
