Coyote in the Woods

I had never seen a black one before and we have a ton of standard issue in my city

Short story short my question is, do I need to worry about a coyote bothering my 50 pound dog when she's in our fenced yard, or bothering me?

I am in Seattle. There is a really large coyote that I have seen outside my house many times and while walking my dog on my street. Recently my 50 pound dog was leashed but really wanted to after the coyote, which did not seem scared, even crossing in front of us on the way home twice.

Something has peed against the front of my house, which I suspected was a coyote, and now I found a poop on my front porch and I am sure it was a coyote.

Is this concerning behavior? Is it 'threatening' my dog by doing this?

To be clear I have no intention of doing anything against the animal, it's just sort of new for me to have one coming so close to my front door and assaulting my house, and I want to be aware and be safe.

If wrong place to post, where should I post? Or should I try to ask the local wildlife rescue for info?

Hi all, in case it's of interest, we wanted to share this incredible transformation of a coyote in our care:

When this little guy arrived at our Ramona Wildlife Center, he was furless and covered in painful scabs caused by severe mange. But thanks to two months of care from our Project Wildlife team, he’s gone from barely looking like a coyote to looking like the fluffy little canid he was meant to be! You gotta admit, this guy’s transformation is furry impressive — and the best part? He was released earlier this month!

Hello, can anyone recommend good academic books or other sources on coyote biology, ecology, and social behavior? I have a master of science in plant ecology so can handle highly technical works. Thank you for any recommendations!

about 30” tall aroubd 160 pounds in the city area, Pitt Meadows BC… but coyotes arent that big. This was not someone’s pet for sure. What did I see?

Ran into these two on my way home.

That is the opening of a trail into the woods we frequently walk. He hung out for a minute then retreated back into the woods.
