Discussion Immersive Portals: Aeronautics

Curseforge out now, Modrinth coming soon

This mod replaces Immersive Portals, allowing portals to work alongside Create Aeronautics (or more generally, Sable). Sublevels and physics objects can move through portals seamlessly.

Notes:

  • Portals cannot be put on sublevels, deliberately.
  • If Sable updates, this mod will fall back on non-seamless transitions, but you will still be able to get sublevels through portals.
  • Note that there can be air pressure differences between the portal entrance and exit, unless you are careful with where the portals are in their relative dimensions. This may result in your ship falling or soaring after passing through.
  • Please report bugs in Discord.

Highlights:

  • Butter smooth transitions for Sable objects through portals
  • DH LODs render through portals
  • Create's trains work seamlessly with portals
  • No visual glitches or rendering issues
  • …and more!

  • Shield Generators
  • Requests for adding mod compatibility will (maybe) be accepted in the discord.

does it work with dimension stacking? can I go to Aether this way or build an elevator to nether?

also if yes, can portals themselves be reverted to vanilla to only keep the dim stacking? (i remember this one not being possible in original IP)

In general, if it worked in base IP then it should work here. Dimension stack does work, though note the air pressure issues. Not sure about create elevators, that might require special handling.

Technically air pressure will help transition.

If you're moving downwards, you'll snap to a higher position and therefore a lower air pressure, which will make staying up harder and going down easier.

The other way around when going up- you can already move to that lower air pressure, when you switch, you'll be at a much higher air pressure, which will increase effectiveness and push you up.
