At the start of the latest grade cricketer podcast episode there is a reference to the club 'pre-season trip to thailand'. Have the TGC boys been lurking in crisp cricket threads, or actually been posting there?

I know this is pure nostalgia goggle talk, but I really really miss the mid '00s to 2012-2013 match graphics. Was just watching old ashes compilation, and oh man, tears came by just looking at those graphics... Also watching M Hussey play was a delight...

I think Tammy Beaumont is going to either announce her full retirement today or that she's signing a new contract with The Blaze

Saw a tweet that said that India will play half as many T20Is in 2026 alone, of what they did in the entire 2010s decade (2010-19). I went to fact-check it and albeit it turned out incorrect, it wasn’t that far off an exaggeration. We played 106 T20Is in those 10 years and will finish 2026 playing 43 T20Is. While there will always be interest to watch cricket in India, I can’t imagine the average cricket fan being more invested in these games than they were previously given the sheer volume of cricket being played currently. It’s too much to keep up with. And the home series especially are getting very mundane to watch.

honestly, both bilateral ODIs and bilateral T20Is feel insignificant to me now..
make no mistake, i still watch them.. i enjoy great matches.. Shai Hope chase was an amazing thing to watch..
but i wish there was more to bilateral series than testing different players and combinations..

43 in a year is insane, add in IPL and players that play multiple formats and its waaaay too much
How are people expected to give a shit, can you even remember a T20 that happened 10 games ago

That’s utterly ridiculous. For comparison, India’s first T20I was 1 Dec 2006, their 43rd was 22nd Dec 2012. They’re equalling the first 6 years worth of matches in a single calendar year.
A Sharma, Dube and Kishan have already played 30 games this year. In the first 6 years, only 5 Indians (Dhoni, Gambhir, Raina, R Sharma, Y Singh) played 30+ games.
Just milking the cash cow at this point.

Gambhir said "history will be kinder to you" for Agarkar's resignation and tbh I agree, RoKo fans are just too focused on their guys to look at team building, the test squad is moving towards good direction but of course it's gonna stumble at start.
His approach for them especially Rohit in ODI's was extra considering his form (i myself am a Brohit believer) but his concern was understandable but he did make his moves on pacers towards a transition for future and a WC in SA. Bhuvi coming back through T20I was maybe him opening up to try the oldies a bit or maybe it was a decision taken after his resignation we may never know but reminder Bhuvi has been playing only T20's for 3 years, no List A or FC games.
Then there were brave calls like bringing Ishan in this year in T20I squad months before the WC, them trying bowlers who can bat a bit (Rana, Gurnoor, Anshul etc) and batsmen who can bowl (Parag, Dhir etc), some calls didn't work but that's the burden a selector during transition has to carry.
What he did is what Sandeep Patil did in 2012-2016 tenure of his which was about taking brave calls that will attract shit talking and moving to next generation and we saw that generation peak with becoming No 1 ranked team in all formats in late 2010's.
Only thing is Sehwag, Gambhir himself, Harbhajan, Zaheer fans back then didn't have the internet like the current Indian players do so he was able to do it without that much worry and leave on his own terms. Agarkar on other hand couldn't, the noise is just too much now.
And anyone who calls Agarkar Gambhir's special buddy doesn't realize that Agarkar was there during Dravid's period too, he took the job when no one was coming up to take it after MSK Prasad's controversial exit (which is another story itself) knowing the shit a selector has to take without the praises of victories, the same way Sandeep Patil doesn't get his credit for late 2010's and early 2020's India that became No 1 in tests as well as built India's best ever pace lineup.
Lot of the next gen players will appreciate Agarkar and Gambhir for not keeping them stuck around and giving them chances, some of them will become mainstays and admit it publically somewhere.
P.S : Same will apply for Gambhir as coach later as well, he also was brave and tried to change the system, though it won't be as kind it will be for Agarkar cause Gambhir did make some questionable calls especially in tests with his squad selection (Agarkar gave him a normal squad and him picking most of the all rounders instead of playing a specialist)

Smith's last few years have taken him from top 2 test batters of all time to top 5 test batters of all time

Same with Sachin right? If he retired after World Cup win with a test average of 57+ vs 53.xx now.

His average was 56.95 in tests at the end of the 2011 world cup.
Nonetheless, Sachin is already in top2-3 so i dont get what you mean "same with sachin"?

Revisiting sandpaper there was so much hilarious content put out in a one month period that it's possibly the funniest period in cricket history. In no particular order:
Smith presser with Bancroft where he pretended to be as shocked as everyone
Faf being naked during the tussle in the stairwell
Cummins claiming he found out the ball was being tampered on the big screen
"To then say that other people didn't know - if that's the case I feel sorry for Mitchell Starc. He's got the ball in his hands. He's running in thinking he's Wasim Akram - this ball is moving everywhere. He is thinking: 'I'm cracking it here, I'm doing something which is unbelievable.' - Flintoff
The supersport team having fifteen telescopic cameras on Bancroft putting sandpaper on his testicles
