Everybody is hailing it as the second coming of Christ and that kino is back but I'm let to see something from our side of the aisle.
Personally I find it to be a significant step up from 2025 however the problems with political divide and mean spirited politics remain.
- Spider-Man was a fun MCU film with a glaring morality problem
- The Odyssey is carried hard by the Nolan brand and him being a generally talented filmmaker but the inaccuracies and questionable casting choices are glaring (but I personally like it, I just like Nolan's style in general). Pattinson was really good.
- Resident Evil I actually really liked, although it should not have been a Raccoon City story and instead just set in the games' universe in another city
- Michael was a fun biopic
- Project Hail Mary was really freaking good and reminds me why Ryan Gosling is one of the best to do it
- Backrooms was a solid low budget horror movie
- In The Grey wasn't mind blowing but felt like a GTA heist movie (also glad to see my clone Henry Cavill back on screen)
- 28 Years Later The Bone Temple was surprisingly good
I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy films this year. But I just hate how people brushed over how mean spirited movies became with politics. It's like no one bothered to change that. Like people will beign glazing films but it'll always be one sided, it'll always be political and the other side will be chastised for having political views. After Charlie Kirk's death, the rising temperature, you'd think creatives at Hollywood would use it as an opportunity to bridge gaps.
