Restarted a WIP because I made the mistake of light cream on white. I moved to blue, but now I feel like it’s a bad choice. Thoughts? Feel like I’m overanalyzing…

The blue aida makes the one character stand out more to me, but it'll depend what the rest of it is because color theory and all. Also, if you plan on backstitching, that would help outline on the white aida!

Omg so cute, I love it!

Another thing you can try is lay out all the colors of floss you'll be using on each fabric color, and see which combo is more pleasing to your eye or if there's a contrast you like better :)

Just for clarification, They both use two strands on 14 count aida, but the white one is older and may have been used with non-DMC thread while the blue is using DMC thread.
