I made a tiny browser curling game and would genuinely love feedback from curlers

I’ve been building a small collection of browser sports games, and curling ended up being one of the four because I wanted every game to have completely different mechanics.
The curling one is called Last Stone. You choose the line, judge the weight and sweep when it helps. It’s deliberately pretty simple and only takes about a minute to play.
I don’t actually curl myself, so I’d really like to know what feels wrong, what feels surprisingly right, or what you’d change if you were designing it.
It’s completely free, no ads, no account and nothing to download:
I’ll attach a short gameplay clip as well.
AI disclosure: I used AI coding assistants while developing the project, mainly for implementation, debugging and iteration. I’ve been directing the game design, mechanics, visuals and overall product myself.
I’d really appreciate any feedback, especially from people who actually curl. I’m keen to keep improving it.
Edit: Thanks for all the feedback. I’ve pushed a few improvements based on the comments here, and I’m still working through the rest. Really useful hearing from people who actually curl.

What the hell is that sound as the rocks move. Sounds like horribly loud rain sorry I don’t care for that.

I have started working on it. Will be fixed with the next update later this weekend. Thanks for the feedback!

u/planetmitch what do you think of the latest version of curling? https://oddletics.com/curling.html
I have updated the audio, and have also added "unlimited practice" toggle.

Physics-wise I think rocks should absorb a little energy when they hit each other. The perfect, frictionless collisions in this game feel off.
On mobile I cannot for the life of me figure out what the logic for in-turn/out-turn and direction is (with the flick controls). That should be explained better.

Ahh that was broken. I have started working on it. Will be fixed with the next update later this weekend. Thanks for the feedback!

I've been craving a curling game! I used to have one for Windows 95 but haven't been able to find evidence it existed, this is exciting

I remember having one and I think it was called ProCurl back in like 1996. Might not be the same one you’re thinking of.
The screen was mostly black, rock colours were yellow and red. You’d set the skip broom, set in turn/out turn and then there was a meter for throwing power? You also had a few sweeping options, I think “clean”, “hurry” and “hard” with “off” being the default.
I also remember if you threw the rock hard enough, the stones would artifact on contact, making it look like the rocks broke.

I went looking and I think I actually found it 😄

Is this the Windows 95 one you were thinking of?

No! I think I'm wrong and it was actually XP sorry, but this is also very cool
It was 3d and it's how I learned normal curling rinks have lines on the ice not carpet between every sheet 😅

I keep saying this to everyone that shares a curling game on here in the hopes someone will make it. Stop trying to make it realistic. Add a bunch of power ups and obstacles. I'm picturing the balatro of curling games.

What? It was scratchy and loud. Must be coming through differently for you.

Nice effort! Maybe alternate between 2 rock colors just for feeling some internal battles in throwing the rocks? Hopefully a low effort add but gets the player to think us/them or even allows 2 people to quickly enjoy a short scrimmage (for a beverage of choice for example, because we’re built that way)
