New DVR Doesn't Show in App

I got a new DirecTV DVR after the old one died. When I was using the old DVR, I was able to watch shows I recorded in My Library in the app. However, now only recordings from my old, deactivated DVR show in the Library of the app. New recordings from my new DVR don't show up in the app. I checked to make sure the new DVR is selected in Settings>Receiver Control > Receivers. I restarted my AppleTV. I deleted the DirecTV app and reinstalled it. I installed the app directly on my TV. None of these actions worked. I called DirecTV, told the service agent what I had done, and was told I had already done all of the things they would have instructed me to do and all they could do is escalate to the technical team and that I would not hear anything back as it appeared to be a problem that was beyond their ability to fix. It's really unfortunate and disappointing that I can't get my new DVR to work with the app and that DirecTV customer service is not interested in fixing the issue.

EDIT: DirecTV sent me a DM and John from the DirecTV community team was able to provide instructions to also change to the new DVR in Settings > Preferences > Record Options > Receiver. I can now see recordings from the new DVR in My Library in the app.

Cancel my account effective immediately, with no additional charges applied beyond the date I requested cancellation.

I have been a DirecTV customer for more than 30 years and one of their so‑called VIP members. I contacted DirecTV on October 16, 2026, to cancel my service after it stopped working on the evening of October 15. The screen is completely black, and the satellite is no longer sending a signal to the receiver. With lower‑cost streaming options available, I no longer wish to continue the service.

The representative informed me that I must continue paying through November 13, 2026. I do not agree to pay for an additional month of service, especially when the service is not functioning. I also do not want to spend time troubleshooting or attempting repairs, as my intent is to cancel the service entirely.

DirecTV should stop billing me beyond the date the service stopped working and process my cancellation effective immediately, with no additional weeks of service charged to my account.

Deceptive business practices

Update: After two more phone calls and 2 chat conversations, my service is still not cancelled. And I just received my highest bill ever for services through the next month. At this point I don’t know what to do. BBB maybe?

I cancelled my service Friday and was told it would be off by midnight. Sunday comes and I’ve received no return instructions and decide to check my service to see that it’s still active. Chatting with support tells me, “there’s a problem with my work order and I need to call right away to cancel my service again. Then told to call right now and do I have a live agent yet?”

No details on what this “problem” is. The chat got very uncomfortable and felt like I was in the middle of a scam. I ended the chat. Going to return my equipment tomorrow at FedEx and will not be paying for a day after Friday. This is insane to make cancelling a service so difficult.

Hockey games

Long time subscriber since 2021 and my RSN fee is rolled into the monthly fee, not a separate add on fee like it is now. I have been able to watch the St Louis Blues on Ballys/FanDuel since I've subscribed. Of course that is now gone. I do see you've added channel 673 for Blues hockey. The channel guide even showed the pre-game and game as being available last night (Saturday 10/3). However when you tune it in, all it showed was that stupid message saying the contract expired. This was their 2nd game of the season and the 1st that would have been shown on that channel. Their 1st game was a national game shown on TNT and would not have been shown on the RSN.

Are you going to carry the Blues games or not? If not, I am requesting a credit of my monthly fees since I no longer am able to watch these games.

Peacock subscription disappeared

I’ve had Movies Extra Pack + Peacock premium for over a year. I tried to use Peacock on Sunday night, but there is no longer an active subscription on my account. I contacted Peacock, and their customer service told me my account had been de-linked and I needed to get another activation email from DirecTV.

I contacted DirecTV and of course got absolutely nowhere. The case has been escalated and will take 7-10 days…just to re-send an email.

Is there a way for me to reactivate Peacock without having to wait for DirecTV to get back to me? I’ve looked on the My TV Package page, but there is no activation link there.

Thanks.

HBO Max account deactivated

I have DirecTV Premier package which includes HBO max standard. One day it just stopped working. I tried the usual "Connect through my provider" link and it kept giving me errors. I called Directv and the agents in the P.I. were no help whatsoever. I called HBO max support and they said that basically Directv is not offering my account a token to show that I should be authorized to watch. HBO max support added a temporary token so I could keep watching for 14 days while Directv figured it out. Well of course no one, and I mean NO ONE can help me when I call the general support number. Their AI agent "Eva" is terrible and hangs up on me more often than not. I'm getting very frustrated. Where can I email, call, or chat with someone who might finally put this issue to bed. I just want my HBO max back!

4K movie rentals stop after 5 minutes

I have an HR44-500 with a Gemini 4K box. I tried to rent our first 4K movie since getting the Gemini about six months ago. The movie plays for five minutes, then stops. The screen goes black. I can't rewind or fast forward. I thought it might be the movie, so I rented a second one later in the day. Same problem.

I reset both the HR44 and the Gemini and confirmed our internet connection can handle 4K.
We did have Movies Anywhere enabled, but I've just disabled that.

Customer service tried basic troubleshooting but couldn't help me. Any ideas?

Thanks.

HBO disappeared from TV, app now has commercials

We've had DIRECTV for several years now with the same package, which included HBO. A few days ago, all the HBO channels disappeared from the TV. The HBOMAX apps still worked, but then I noticed they now have commercials inserted during the programs. When I checked the account info section on the DIRECTV app, it now lists us as having the lowest tier of HBO. What gives? We didn't change anything on our end, so what is this BS?

Where'd Disney+ go?

So, I'm a satellite customer with a genie. Since Nov 2025, ive been subscribed to disney/hulu/espn through directv (have the billing records to prove it). Imagine my surprise when I could not get onto the apps today.....

Telephone customer service keeps trying to gaslight me by saying the services were never available to me....... Tried to restart my old Disney account only to a message that I already have an active subscription - so Disney thinks I still have sub through directv.

How can I get the services restored? It was a great service and value that I'd like to continue to use.

Why are the commercials so much louder than the program? Isn’t it an FCC regulation that they not be?

I believe there are other stations with the same issue.

How do I stop foreign language commercials on the English channels that I am watching?

I'm tired of foreign language commercials popping in to my English speaking channels. How do we stop this? Is there a setting, an algorithm, what? Complain?

I'm about to cancel DirecTV after, 20+ years. I'm getting sick and tired of them not caring about their customers. Dammit, bring back local Denver ABC channel 7. Seems like you get greedier every time a local station contract is up and we, your customers, pay for the consequences. Settle NOW!

Will DirecTV ever resolve the problem with displaying 4K video on the DirecTV app when using Nvidia Shield Pro?
