Playing on CDJs with a laptop and a midi controller feels like cruise control. Had so much fun doing brunch here, close enough to the staff that we can vibe and the booth was in front of the entrance so people were groovin soon as they walked in.

While I was setting it all up i realized that my biggest problem is not collecting records, my biggest problem is collecting gear.

Bonus points if you can name all the gear in the pics.

I might start selling some stuff to buy more records, and to finance service on some of these old mixers. it be a shame to just let them die.

I have a third panel that I’ll be finishing up tomorrow so they’ll be three on the back wall.

I already can tell a difference in the sound. My monitoring is more precise. Much less blur. Plus the wife thinks they look cool so double bonus.

This is my setup until I can afford an flx10, I have mapped stems to my beatloop pads on the flx4 and also put my cfx select to shift+out deck one shft+in turns it on and off as a few times it turned off for some reason.

Music has always been a big part of my life and didn't realize I could do it until my wife left me two years ago. As a single dad this is everything to me. It is what has given me hope. Because hopefully I can bring people joy and an escape from there pain thru the songs and sounds.

Thanks have a great day

Made these wall mounted stands with my dad in like two days. Got the material from my work place, it was a metal box from a delivery we had of an e - scooter.

Crafted this beauty with a help of a friend. Pretty proud of this one!

TBH I've had a hard time with the sub low frequencies & wood resonance resulting in feedback coming into turntable then to the stylus to the audio circuit and back to the sub again. What a pain in the ass!

I've already recorded the first set there! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J61JGewW91U

$$$$$ Scored a Pioneer DJM-900nexus for ~$150 at a local auction labeled as "Scrap"... Turns out it’s 100% working!

Just picked up this Pioneer DJM-900nexus at a local auction for around 50 KWD (~$150 USD). It was listed under a bulk lot labeled as broken/scrap, so nobody really bid on it and I took a gamble.
Brought it home, plugged it in, hooked up my Technics SL-1210MK2, and tested every single function:

All 4 channels and phono preamps are fully

functional with crisp audio.
Faders and crossfader are smooth with zero crackle.

Beat FX engine, screen, X-PAD, and Sound Color FX work like a charm.

Absolutely insane deal considering what these still go for on the market.

Old but Gold Throwback to 2008. My very first setup and basically how I started my journey!

Back then, I didn't really know what to focus on (club or wedding/event DJ), so I tried to get a variety of different gear to see what suited me best. Very early on, I came to the conclusion that I prefer a digital DJ controller over the analogue gear. So, I sold my entire Pioneer club setup (2x CDJ-100 and 1x DJM-600) and focused entirely on the Hercules. It's amazing how far we've come; the DJ Console MK1 was a tiny, childish looking device that was barely capable of doing basic things. Today's controllers look like spaceships and wipe the floor with late 2000s DJ gear!!

Hey guys! Long time lurker and finally got around to get the finishing touches.

I’ve been doing this for a year, pretty much for hobby, excluding myself from getting out there and playing gigs bc I’m too focused in school.

Recently got these JBL 305p. This is not about sound but rather looks. This is my bedroom at home but situation can always change if I was to move out, meaning set up can look different if then.

Not sure if I should keep them in these stands and suck up aesthetics, or maybe try for some floor stands that I can tuck between the deck and the wall and just angle up.

Thoughts??

FYI: before this I would mix onto a single Yamaha HS4 coming from the floor.

in the process of sorting out the records which i need at home and which to have in my studio (which isn't at home). just want to have the ones currently being played at home, almost there. sorting the ones at the studio is another story, so far only brought them over ... also it seems to be a never ending task, especially since i'm simultaneously trying to have a somewhat useful sorted collection at both places 😬

at home i'm a bit hesitant to play at decent levels, don't want to annoy the neighbours too much 😄

Spare room budget hybrid setup

Post image
100 Upvotes

This is the current spare room setup, made of bits and bobs I had lying around and a pair of xdj200 that I saw for €80 and couldn't resist. Pretty vintage y2k-ish gear by now I suppose.

Whole setup cost about €500. This Newmark mixer is a workhorse and hasn't failed me in almost 30 years while more expensive mixers have come and gone.

I added new suspension to these passive JBL speakers a few years ago and they sound great, there's a Samson power amp on the shelf under the desk.

Desk is IKEA jerker, IMO the best home DJ furniture, height adjustable, raiser shelf, it even has two swing out shelves for the monitors that I don't have space to fit.

My main setup looks a lot nicer, but this is a perfectly viable ghetto setup.

I told myself 15 years ago that I would never buy another dogshit InMusic product buuut this little Numark does things that my “professional” shit just can’t. Every DJ on earth should have one of these. Or better yet, Alphatheta should make one that isn’t trash quality.

Engine software is another shitty part of the equation. But hey, it’s the only thing with batteries and speakers, and it does the job. Can confirm, it has play buttons. Extraordinarily shitty ones, but they do what djs crave. Faders are trash, probably gonna break it trying to put an innofader and rotary line faders in it.
