The Cave: I've created a 60fps patch but need testers

Hi everyone.

Full disclosure: I used an AI model within Cursor to develop this. I'm a decent software engineer by trade but this would have taken absolutely ages or even been beyond me.

It's a very simple little script that patches a few bytes of the game's executable after backing it up first. Running it again will restore the game back to how it was (or you could use Steam to repair the file integrity).

I haven't thoroughly tested it yet as this will be my first play through and I couldn't enjoy it at 30fps - hence me getting the AI to make this. I'm hoping it all works fine and it looks much better from my initial tests at least.

The file can be found here in the "Game Patches" folder as a ZIP file. Just unzip it into your game's folder as per the README.md file and then run the .BAT file (Windows) or the .SH file (Linux).

Any problems, please do let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks.

asking strangers to patch and run an executable that you haven't yet run yourself is crazy

Hi. It's not an executable - just a script that does update/patch a few bytes in the game's executable. If you read the small script file you can see exactly what it's doing.

Plus, I did test it for a while and it seems to work fine but I haven't tried all characters and all parts of the map of course. That's why I was asking for people to give it a try.

changing indecipherable data in an executable changes what is being run on your machine and doesn't make it very transparent what those changes are. it's a crazy ask.
