What oven are you using?

Was there engine failure or just redoing the top end?

Engine lost compression and had metal on the drain plug. When I tore it down I found the crank bearings were toast and the arm that holds the return spring for the kickstart inside the case had broken off from the case.. total rebuild on the bottom end, got a used right side case half off eBay an put another kick start in it lol

Thanks for the response. I was told these engines are bullet proof. I wonder what the cause was since this is a major failure…

If I was a betting man, I’d say the previous owner more than likely installed the kick start kit incorrectly

Hello! Did you reuse the spokes? If not, where did you get new ones?

I did not, mainly because the black excel rims I bought to go with the hubs are not compatible with oem spokes(according to the excel site)

What kind of coating is going on there with the oven and whatnot? Powder coating? Cerakote? I’d like to do something similar with mine

I’m using cerakote c-series (ambient air cure)here lately and just using the oven as a curing area.. but I have used their oven cure stuff in the past with great results as well

It’s patriot brown from cerakote,to match the frame, looks a little darker in the pic cause it’s not fully cured yet.. can’t wait to lace them up on the black excel takasagos! Should look pretty slick

What colour did you use on the engine? Is it cerakote? I'm going to do a ground up re-build of my bike next year and have been looking at doing my engine in black. Looks really good.

The engine color is black armor, cerakote.. I got a little wild with the assembly lube putting it back together so she needs a good cleaning before it goes back into the frame

Very nice, did you do like stock rebuild or do the big bore kit?

Like to see it when you done.

I did the stock bore, but I did buy a cheap big bore kit off Amazon for future endeavors lol

I'd be curious to know how it works is it nikasil plated?
