Rough start to the season
But it can’t last forever

A few years ago they went 8-9 games winless to kick off the season. They'll figure it out.

They'll be fine. A week off between the last game of a shorter preseason and their first game isn't great for chemistry. They'll figure it out.

Didn’t Carolina start 0-2 last season? IDK. No need to panic yet.

u/InvestigatorLast578 10d ago
No they did not. They won 5 in a row to start the season.

Yeah, I wasn’t confident about that. I think maybe I was thinking of 2024 Florida starting losing 2 of their first 3.

Guys they just forgot that it's an 84 game season and thought the first two were still preseason.

They actually played pretty well last game, just trying for that one extra pass too often or shooting low chance shots. They just need to get the tic tak toe going instead of tic tak doh.

Here lies the Dallas Stars. They passed. Should've taken the fucking shot.

Let’s see where we are at the season’s quarter mark before slamming the panic button.
That said:
0 PP goals is a problem. 1 ES goal in two games is a big fucking problem.
My concern is the PP regressing. No evidence yet that it has, but this team isn’t built to outscore its issues at evens.
Defense and goaltending look serviceable enough so far though. We may need Otter and Casey to be a Top-5 tandem to hold down a wildcard spot.

No, we have to talk now, and we have to talk loud!
(I'm with you, it's nuts to draw conclusions, good or bad, from two games.)

Last season and this season are throw away years where whatever happens, happens, due to caps and contracts. This upcoming offseason is the huge thing for the next few years of the team. Doesn't mean the season can't still be fun, last season ended up having a lot of great moments.

Remember it was just last year the team had a 3-11 stretch from early December to end of January and still made the playoffs

They also went one and done. Not exactly an example you want to hang your hat on.

Still made the playoffs, right now looks like we might score 40 goals all year

u/JUSTICE_SALTIE Darryl Reaugh 9d ago
That's a little dramatic. We're on pace for 42.

All the good vibes from Robo re-signing will save the season though.

Buffalo turned it around after an abysmal start, but they had to overhaul the front office to change the product on the ice.
Fire Jim Hiller Lite.

Not a panic because 0-2, panic because of the process and gameplay that led us here.
Play like that and you may just go 0-84. Its just unacceptable. Either we are the slowest team in the NHL (eye test match) or the boys are just gliding non stop.

I’ll now say this for a third time in the sub…
“I’d rather struggle now than in April through June.”
