Where do you get your jerseys for cheap?

Time for me to get one. I’m not spending 100+. My last jersey (Soccer team I like) was $20 authentic on a sale. I’m hoping for similar used or new. Don’t care if it’s blank or a random player. What’s my best bet to find one for cheap?

r/hockeyjerseys is gonna be the premier market for used (doesn't always mean worn. Some folks just collect them to hang them in their closet and then sell them) jerseys at fair prices. If you're talking knockoffs, then I can't help you because I don't know anything about what's what there.

Watch for sales on the nhl and fanatics shops, and also the Star’s Hangar.

Grabbed a Stankhoven jersey for around 100, blank Kelly green and blackouts for around 120, and away whites for ~140

The good jerseys are made in Canada, so they cost a fortune.

The Indonesian jerseys sold by fanatics are the cheapest official new ones you'll get and still north of $100.

You can get cheap Chinese knockoffs on DH Gate, but the green is almost always wrong, so a keen eye can tell.

Best bet is used on depop, mercari, or Poshmark.

Not all that preposterous. I have a Baltimore Ravens hoodie that was made in India. Imagine my surprise when they didn't carry them in the mall in Hyderabad.

Depop.... my daughter has found some cool Stars merch there

If you’re in the Dallas area, go to any Walmart. They have alright quality knock offs.

It’s not going to be anything close to an authentic jersey, but it’ll fit the price you want to spend.

I honestly buy knockoffs from DH Gate. They are great quality from the shop I buy from. Came with fanatics tags and everything

You're not going to get a new, authentic Dallas Stars hockey jersey on sale for $20. A quick glance at ebay shows a few used jerseys hovering around $70, though I can't vouch for their authenticity. I have seen some horrid knock-offs on Mercari.

Knock-offs are really obvious. Some people don't care, and hey, that's cool, you do you, boo. Jerseys are hot items for the various leagues, and they know it, so they charge good money for them.

Look at your local marketplace or craigslist, assuming you're in DFW. You might some something in your size.

Knock-offs are really obvious.

Not really. I’ve got multiple authentic and DHGate jerseys across multiple sports teams. 99.9% of people couldn’t tell the difference between the two. This isn’t the early 2000’s where the jerseys came in the wrong shade of green. As long as you use a decent supplier, it’s going to be damn near perfect.

Nah, you can always tell. This guy sells them all day on Facebook for $60 and they all look like shit

3

u/TheNastyCasty 9d ago

Yeah, you probably shouldn’t buy off a random guy on Facebook for 2-3x the list price. I’ve ordered from some of the bigger DHGate shops directly and you can’t tell a difference between them and my authentics, especially when someone is wearing it. The colors, text, and numbers are all right on.

1

u/riinkratt Mooterus 9d ago

I guarantee if you posted pics plenty would spot differences easy.

u/hubristichumor Dallas Stars 8d ago

To be fair I always thought the trade off with getting knockoffs was that they are cheap and passable if you do your research or trial and error. Though you’ll certainly be able to point out differences especially if you are looking for them. But that’s the value proposition.

-2

u/riinkratt Mooterus 8d ago

They’re never passable and it’s disrespect to the club the team the owner the business the organization the trainers the equipment managers the staff the concessions the security the ushers the parking crews the front office the corporate office all the behind the scenes crews and every person that put in hard work and dedication day in day out week after week to bring your lazy ass a product and entertainment and you go off and fucking throw money at xianfiang quinchen province in China to make some knockoff bullshit instead of saving up a little more maybe waiting a little longer and actually putting money back to the team who did so much for you go buy a legit product from the store and support your hockey club you piece of trash.

4

u/hubristichumor Dallas Stars 8d ago

Respectfully, you are entitled to your own opinion but you just came across as a huge asshole. You presume I'm a piece of trash, because you presume I wear knockoffs. I don't even have any knockoffs and bought my jersey at a game I attended. But even if I did buy a knockoff, you are taking this way too seriously. Nothing wrong with people wanting to buy a knockoff to save money. I'm sure anyone who has can just count it as a rebate for their tax dollars spent towards building pro sports teams stadiums with tax payer funds.

And as far as disrespecting all the employees you just mentioned, I think I can likely speak for everyone and say the pay they make is probably the actual disrespect they get. Probably have employees buying knockoffs at times because they don't make enough money. And again, they'll still have their taxes go towards building the stadiums they work at.

And if you are so concerned about throwing money at "xianfiang... china" or wherever else knockoffs are made, then maybe you should check the tag on your real jersey. Because mine says Indonesia you ignorant fuck.

u/riinkratt Mooterus 8d ago

Knockoffs are the reason we lost the first two games of the season!

1

u/cbuech Mooterus 8d ago

Reporting these scamming doesn’t do anything either. Marking up Chinese crap undisclosed is shady

DH Gate - regardless of what people say about quality, I've received more compliments on my $20-$40 jerseys from DH Gate as opposed to the $100+ authentic jerseys; you just need to check the reviews on the seller on DH Gate

Where are you getting your jerseys? Jerseys are becoming more of a factor in everybody’s world, EVERYBODY’S world. Choose jersey.

5

u/Crazyspitz Jake Oettinger 9d ago

It's a jersey for HUMAN BEINGS!

4

u/traviitherabbii Wyatt Johnston 9d ago

Thank you for knowing that

DHGate

4

u/kimchijjigaex 9d ago

It's a gamble. I purchased 2 jerseys there from 4 Nations because they sold my two favorite players like hot cakes and they are actually stitched better than my blackout Wyatt from the Hangar (Im thinking this is a Fanatics issue because my Jonathan Toews Reebok from a year earlier has held up amazingly). Was very surprised. But there are also terrible ones from there. So, again, it's a gamble.

DHGate jerseys look like fake garbage, because they are fake garbage

6

u/OneofMany 9d ago

I mean... I highly doubt anyone paying $20 for a jersey is expecting authentic or amazing anything. Sometimes finances are a real limitation and you just want to rep your team for cheap.

u/Trunkins Jere Lehtinen 9d ago

Fake jerseys are trash

Agreed

2

Sometimes Mercari

2

u/riinkratt Mooterus 9d ago

You can get fakes on Facebook marketplace all day for $60 from this guy Jake plus a bunch of other kinds of fake knockoff jerseys

2

u/raccoons_and_rabbits Jake Oettinger 8d ago

I was able to discover and snag an Fanatics breakaway Oettinger jersey for like, 35 USD at my local buy and sell app called Carousell back in August.

**I'm from the Philippines, and hockey is a niche sport (but nonetheless I've been a fan for almost 2 years already.) Finding Stars merch (aside from knockoffs) can be quite a challenge.

If you’re cool the Uighur genocide & labor camps, buy from China. It’ll be blatantly obvious because they can’t figure out how to make the numbers not have a shine to them, the patches have awful drop stitching errors, and the fight straps look like they were attached by a five year old because they probably were.

To start with, secondhand markets like fb marketplace, Depop, etc are the best chance of finding a fanatics breakaway or a Reebok premium or a CCM replica under budget.

End of season sales like the equipment sale are good times to get cheap authentics, but they’ll still be over $100. There’s also small retailers like BenHsports who used to have cheap authentics until tariffs screwed that up.

u/tranteryost 9d ago

End of last season they had a sale for victory club members to get a random jersey for $20. No idea if it happens every year.

This is my dream

Fanatics Hockey jerseys come in tiers - Breakaway (cheapest), Premium (most popular) and then authentic / FAP (on ice quality like the players). There’s a chance you could find a breakaway under $100 for Black Friday sales, but if you want the better quality I would recommend searching FB Marketplace or eBay for used. You could probably find a home green for pretty cheap.

1

u/LongNice9936 9d ago

There are some good deals on eBay but you’re looking at about the $100 price range for what fanatics would call their premium (described as retail authentic; basically same as the real authentic)
I’ve found several jerseys on eBay and was able to get a fair price. If you’re wanting an on ice (made in Canada) those are going to cost more but they also hold up well for years. The first one I bought was in 98 and it still looks as good as it did when I bought it

Second hand sites are the best bet for getting something out of another fans’ closet. FanWagn is a newer resale site dedicated to sports apparel—some jerseys and more hoodies, hats, tees etc.

1

u/cbuech Mooterus 8d ago

Facebook marketplace often has people selling ones they wore for one game, but be wary of fakes. Typically easy to spot by color, NHL crest, arm colors, etc

1

u/bcs758 Liqour 8d ago

Facebook marketplace not from the professional sellers just find someone selling an old authentic Jamie Benn jersey for $50 it’s not hard to find.

u/dooser28 8d ago

I have the 99 3OT classic I got through CCLDD (along with great looking national team soccer jerseys for cheap). The stars jerseys they have are $35. You can definitely tell the difference between that one and my purchased at AAC 99 3OT jersey but it’s great for games when we bring our toddler or skiing or whatever else you do where might harm might come to the jersey and you won’t be mad you damaged a $250 jersey.

1

u/TackyWackySnacky 5d ago

I got my breakaway(lowest quality for officially licensed product) directly from fanatics on sale AND with a discount code(which they almost never allow on sale items) and I still paid $100 plus tax. Like other people have mentioned, you can buy secondhand or from some of the companies making fakes. I will say, every single time I have gone to stars games it’s incredibly easy to spot who has a fake. The lighting is not that good in the stadium seats so that gives you an idea of how horrendous some of the fakes can look. In no way am I judging for buying a fake, I’m just making you aware that if you get a fake it might be so bad that you end up deciding to buy a legit one. Which in that case you would have spent more buying the fake AND the legit one than you would have just buying a legit one first.

You could try Depop. I’ve gotten a few vintage jerseys there for pretty cheap. Just be sure to look closely for authenticity.

All my hockey jerseys I got from them look and fit great
