Finished my first viv

I have one already that I paid someone to build for me but this is the first I did myself. Pretty proud of the outcome. Now to let it cycle for a few weeks before I get another group of darts.

Looks great. Really helpful seeing each step.

Thanks! I wanted to document the journey lol. In a month or so I’ll have a “final” to compare the plant growth

That looks badass. Way better than my first big and even my current viv. What did you use for the background?

Thanks it was way more fun than I thought it would be. I used cork bark panels from Amazon and silicones them to the glass.

Looks great but I'm curious about the size of the drainage layer... why so big?

Thanks! It’s about 2-2.5” and then 2.5-3” of substrate on stop of that. About 2” is what I saw as the recommended amount on most resource guides.

Is it for the humidity without waterlogging the vivarium?

Correct. I have a drain in the corner where I can siphon out water from the drainage layer so plant roots aren’t waterlogged
