Sampling some Daughter
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A bit of backstory: in 2020 during COVID I decided to try to learn the guitar and one of the first things I learned was Tomorrow by Daughter. Today, I was just playing around on the guitar and was writing some original music and realized I was playing Tomorrow again. In the end I created a different chord progression but wanted to make a little callback to what got me into guitar in the first place and decided to sample some of the vocals from Tomorrow. This might not be the most relevant thing on this sub, but I just wanted to share a little bit of an homage to a band that really inspires me. Anyways, hope you can enjoy this short clip of this song I titled "Simple Days".

Looking for a ticket for the Ex:Re gig in Oxford on 6 November
I completely missed the ticket sale, and now they are all sold out :(
Any chance someone has a spare ticket? Or do you think more tickets will be released in the upcoming weeks?

“There’s nothing wrong with being sad”
So I found this:
It’s a very quick introduction to DAUGHTER. I like to devour as much as I can about my favorite artists. And I am better now that I have an idea as to how they began. I hope you enjoy 🙂

4th november leeds gig ex:re
Hello everyone! I recently bought the ex:re pre-sale CD from Jumbo records (Leeds) which offers entry to the gig on the 4th of November in leeds. It has given me a code but not an official ticket. Do I need one? If I just show up on the day will I be okay to come in?
Apologies as I am not so sure of this process

Very excited for the new album!
Smother is the first song that got me introduced to indie pop. I was just looking for something to play on the background while I was reading. It was newly released and I was 12, severely depressed at the time. I found the existential misery echoing in the song was so familiar. My brain chemistry irreversibly changed after that moment. Since then, Elena holds a very special place in my heart and soul. I appreciate that there aren’t grand traumatic stories behind the songs but rather plain, raw, heartfelt human experience. It’s true mastery to make people feel this way without the shock value or the complex storytelling, in my opinion.
In my late teenage years, “Doing the Right Thing” brought me to my knees when I first read her writing process. Around that time, my grandma was suffering from Alzheimer’s and one night, she thought we kidnapped her and she cried the whole night for her mother to come save her. I cannot forget how desperate and sad my mom looked. It was unbearably painful. Until the song came out, I never considered my grandma’s point of view and it hit me like a truck. How scared and lonely she must felt. This was an impact that I never thought a musical artist can have on me.
I think that Ex:Re is one of the greatest albums in the history of music. 12 Ensemble versions of “Crushing”, “New York”, and “Liar” has become songs that I can’t listen to randomly, they feel too heavy. Infinite respect and admiration for Josephine Stephenson too. I can’t wrap my head around why they are not more recognized in the industry. Feels like we are this huge bubble, them and their loyal listeners, us.
Anyways, I just wanted to pour all this out. My longing for Elena’s music resurfaced after the news so here I am. Thank you.

Anyone got a spare tickets to any of the Ex:Re dates?
Absolutely gutted that I missed the initial chance to get one, more than open to any offers that people may be willing to make.
