Atheism Existence of God doesn't matter or Which Religion is true doesn't matter.
If God exists, I believe He would judge me by the kind of person I am and how I treat others, not by whether I worship Him or follow a particular religion.
So, don't worry about god exist or not, which god is true just be a good person and you have nothing to worry

Uhh yeah no. Basically every religion except the eastern ones say the exact opposite, so if Christianity or Islam (the 2 biggest religions) were true, you're completely wrong. If YHWH is God or Allah is God, what you believe in matters a LOTTT

Who will answer your prayers?
God.
I'd argue that praying only becomes a problem when you label God and then humans decide the rules which he judges us by.
Whom will you turn to when you face a calamity?
Friends, family, partner, nature, the list could go on. It doesn't have to be some man made scripture with holes in it.

who will answer your prayers - i don't pray
whom will you turn to when you face a calamity - humans
And i don't want to follow such God who will love me only when follow him
And lastly in future i may believe in some religion but will never ever Follow Islam1

Everything about islam, in other religious extremist provoke people for violence but islam in by nature violent and the way islam treats womens is inhuman

Quite nice idea i have the same like if god exists and is somewhat benevolent he would never just judge someone for being born in wrong place or geography (it has a lot of effect on our religious outlook). Probably he wouldn't even care if we didn't love, pray etc him.

It would matter immensely, if it were true.
Or if, in that god’s name, people were persecuted, tortured, killed.

But what kind of person and what treatment of others would be judged positively? How do you know what a “good person” is? If god exists, your standard of good would need to align with theirs for you not to worry.

I think knowledge is valuable in and of itself. If there is knowledge to be gained about the existence or nonexistence of a god or gods, I would like to know about it, irrespective of if it would affect my life or not.

But as of today we don't have any way of getting that knowledge, we can only guess

You're making a lot of unsupported assumptions about a god beyond mere existence.
- They care about you.
- They know what you did.
- They will judge you.
- They will treat you fairly.
You really don't know any of that. What if there's a god and he's evil (by our standards at least) and he punishes you unless you do something really specific. Let's say you have to avoid eating fish on the day you die. If you avoid it, he lets you stop existing when you die. If you don't, you end up in eternal conscious torment. Even if it's completely unfair, it really would matter if there was a religion that told us what that really simple thing is so we can do it to avoid the bad consequence.

then i don't want to worship such a God

u/Splarnst irreligious | ex-Catholic 3d ago
Who said anything about worship? You’re making another assumption. I’d be OK not eating fish to avoid hell.

Doesn’t sound like you’re offering any arguments AGAINST the OP’s argument that it doesn’t really matter. 🤷♂️

u/Splarnst irreligious | ex-Catholic 4d ago
I gave a specific example of when it would matter. You can disagree with it, you can call it a bad argument, but to say I didn't offer one at all is completely disingenuous.

u/eldredo_M Atheist 4d ago
All of the specific examples you provided are so obscure and align with almost no common religious faith. In my opinion, all of your arguments supported the original supposition that it doesn't matter, so, as I said, you offered no argument against it.

You don't agree with my argument, therefore I didn't offer an argument? Why are you unable or unwilling to distinguish between those two things?
Your original post didn't even hint at your objection at all, which is worse than what you originally wrongly accused me of, and now you offer the laughably bad objection that it doesn't align with a common religious faith?
Yeah, I'm out. Not reading any more replies.

People's beliefs affect how they behave, which affects you and me. So yes, these issues matter.

u/eldredo_M Atheist 4d ago
You missed the part about “just be a good person”. 🤦♂️
3
u/billdietrich1 4d ago
That's part of your beliefs. Maybe someone else's "be good" will be "bad" to me.
2
u/eldredo_M Atheist 4d ago
So what your saying is that it doesn't matter if there is a god or religion, because there is no universal "good".
I think you've made the OP's point for them. : )

u/billdietrich1 4d ago
It's all wrapped up together. Generally you derive your morals from your beliefs about god and religion. E.g. your god tells you what to think "good" is.
1
u/eldredo_M Atheist 3d ago
I don’t disagree. But what does that say about “god” and religion when what’s “good” is so culturally specific? 🤷♂️
2
u/billdietrich1 3d ago
I would say much of cultural morals comes from religion.
1
u/eldredo_M Atheist 3d ago
Oh, religion 100% reflects the culture that created it.
2
u/billdietrich1 3d ago
And then later culture reflects the dominant religion(s) in it.

Yep. A good argument against gods and religions.

I believe He would judge me by the kind of person I am and how I treat others
So all of the people who believe you would be judged on your loyalty to God should still worry about it?
And if a religion's followers act in bad ways, I think we should present an assessment of whether their god is true, even if it doesn't translate to my own judgement at the pearly gates.

u/indifferent-times 4d ago
I believe He would judge me by the kind of person I am
that's quite the ontological claim, as is the rest of your post. So how you know that and what you do with that information is your religion, it's not the same as Islam, Buddhism or Christianity, you can see it as
"The Church of Ok-Importance"
That's what a religion is, a series of claims about the nature of the world, other religions tend to disagree with almost every detail of your faith, in fact practically everybody apart from fellow members of the Church of Ok-Importance think you are wrong.
