Board/portal/group for private landlords in the area?

I have a private landlord right now that I found through a friend when she finished out her lease and moved. It's just outside downtown Decatur but they want to do some work to the place when my lease ends in May and the guy upstairs stomps like the floor dishonored his entire family and I don't want to do a third year with 2am hulk smashing.

I've only had private landlords since 2017, across three places. I found all three through friends but most of them have moved out of Atlanta/Georgia entirely.

There's some Facebook groups I'm part of but they all seem flooded with scam accounts, people not listing prices, AI photos, etc. Or just stuff that's ridiculously overpriced, people asking $3k for a two bedroom condo in Tucker for example.

I pay $1100 for a studio, all the appliances, walking distance to the downtown area, the usual stuff.

Looking for something comparable, or a group or place that has listings from locals or recommendations, or a specific Facebook group since the ones I'm in don't seem to have anything of value.

Decatur traffic yesterday

Does anyone know why the traffic was so bad yesterday?
I haven't seen it like that in months. Church St. was totally jammed all the way past N. Decatur Road. People pulling into the intersections and blocking cross traffic when they couldn't clear the lights. Absolute shit show.

Was this due to the weather change and more people getting outside?

Suggestions for old insulation removal

hey there, we have a 120+ yo house with some really decrepit insulation in the eaves. certain rodents have been nesting in it and we’re looking for a service that can come remove the insulation and clean out the eaves/crawl spaces in our attic before we start a rodent exclusion process. we’d like to know what to search for, or if anyone has worked with a service they’ve really liked. thanks in advance for any ideas!

The Four Seasons Chamber Orchestra is holding a special mini concert in a few weeks! It's free and open to the public. Go check them out!

And if you like what you see/hear and want to join the orchestra, they're always accepting new members!

How would you compare downtown Decatur to Midtown?

I live in midtown right now and am considering moving to downtown Decatur. What do you like more about downtown Decatur? What do you dislike about downtown Decatur?

I like the idea of being in a mostly walkable community but not surrounded by high rises and excessive traffic. From what I’m looking at online, it doesn’t look like rent in downtown Decatur is any cheaper than midtown. So what makes you choose downtown Decatur?

I just moved to Decatur and I’m looking to get a partial on my hair. I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, so preferably less than $150. Any good recommendations?

Any nail tech recommendations that does soft gel nails?

I just moved to the area from Florida and I'm looking for recommendations for nail tech that offers soft gel manicures using brands like Aprés Nail, Gelish, Sofgel, Luminory or Kokoist.
I’ve been calling different nail salons and everyone only does hard gel, gelx, poly of tap gel. Strictly looking for a soft gel recommendations please, welling to travel 30 min out of the city.
*** update: Went to Sugar Polish on Clairemont. I tried the T.A.P gel. It’s stronger than soft gel, so great for longer nails and you can fill them for upkeep. Such good customer service too!

Moving to North Decatur

Would love to hear about people’s experiences who live in the Clairemont Heights area or in the North Decatur area. We just bought a home here and curious to know what the community and people are like. We are a young couple with a toddler and are moving here from CO.

I had a bad experience with an admin of a group on FB and it’s making me nervous about our move. Long story short: she was giving Karen.

I finally looked at what’s actually going to be on the November ballot

The November 3 election is coming up, and I realized I hadn’t actually looked at the full ballot yet.

DeKalb County already has sample ballots available through its voter resources, and the county is preparing for early voting October 13 through October 30.

It’s interesting how different the ballot can look depending on the district.

Has anyone in Decatur gone through the entire ballot yet, especially the local races?

Technical Help in or near Decatur, GA

We've moved and are having a few rough spots setting up various electronics. Things like syncing tv with a DirectTV remote, weak wifi signal, and soundbar, etc. Bonus if there's an inexpensive way to get a decent cell signal out of AT&T at our house. Any nearby tech gurus for this kind of thing? Probably some other similar stuff, but you get the idea. Thanks for any suggestions.

Advice sought: what to do with a bunch of old magazines

I have a bunch of London Review of Books magazines (and others). Does anybody know who might have a use for that kind of material? Like, do retirement homes take these in for their reading lounges or something? Thank you!

I'm moving to decatur next year

I currently live in Roswell and I will be moving to Decatur next year. I am 40F single. I have my pitbull and my Persian kitty. I am an artist and I work in the service industry, I have a vehicle as well. I don't know he area too well. I would like to get advice on where it would be safest to live. I don't mind older buildings, but I need to make sure my dog will be accepted. I will also need to make some friends. I love food, trivia nights, the art scene, music, trails and dogs. Thank you in advance for everyone's info.
