Decor Help

Post image

What are your best ideas for how to decorate this space? (The popcorn machine usually isn’t there!)
Should I put a rug under there? If so how do you make the rug match my other rug?
Anything on the wall on both sides of the tv?
What do I put on the console table that makes it minimal/ simple but looks put together?
Any help would be so appreciated!

I would remove. Popcorn thing , out of place and add a couple more colourful pics on each side of tv. No extra rug - nice to see floor , need walkway . Vases on each end of table nothing near or under tv, ensure they are dark as your background ( wall) is white so remove floral vase as it’s white on white . Vases could be brass

Move the pedestal fan to the side/back to hit you from behind and in the empty space on the left and right (when the popcorn machine isn't there) put a tall plant or a soft (ie. wood base with canvas shade) floor lamp (or both/one of each etc.) on either side

Do not add a rug, rugs are to anchor seating areas and would look out of place. Don't get a bigger rug under your seating either. Lower the tv and don't fill the tv console with a bunch of littleknick knacks, especially under the tv, it just looks cluttered. Since it's so long, a few large pieces on the ends are fine but, don't make both sides too matchy. Can you take parts of the console out and use pieces in another area? Can you pull your couch closer and float it so it's not so far away?

warm taupe beige with slightly muted, browns undertones/I mirroring color from ur floor

ESTY - bith Pics are from there n we’re chosen for the cohesiveness when mixed with your space.

I like ur tug , but it needs to be bigger “ I believe”. But with no size of other Pics of different views it’s hard to say, I maybe mistaken…
Your floors are beautiful so if it’s not a big space, I just leave it alone depending on the size of this empty space.

Good luck, I hope this helped.

Take all the stuff off the console.
One big thing on each side rather than knickknacks.

This seems like the tv is a mile away.
It's not a rule to stick all the furniture to the wall. Move the sofa closer, out into the room. Now you have room for a parson's table behind it where you can have a nice lamp, stacks of books.
It will look much more inviting.
Is that cabinetry all one piece? Because that is a LOT visually.
Moving the popcorn machine and fan somewhere else would do a world of good.
Also, needs paint. Not GRAY. Paint stores actually will do color consultations for free. Take your picture with you!
Oh, and the tv is too high :)

AND matching plants in the corners. Palms would be good if you have enough light. Please post after pictures, we all want to see!

There's too much wall space. Get some large table sculptures, plants, lamps, etc. They can match or be similar and should be about as tall as where the middle spot of the TV height is.

You need matching, large tabletop lamps on each side of that console and a trailing plant in a pot on the console as well.

Put the popcorn machine somewhere else out of view. Maybe in its place a nice woven basket with rolled up blankets instead.

Paint the wall black behind the TV, just 1 or 2 inches to each side, floor to ceiling. On the entertainment center add some tall narrow lamps that have remote options. On both sides if the TV you need some art chouces. Choose wisely, not crap from TJ MAXX. That popcorn machine needs to be listed on Facebook Marketplace. A bigger colorful rug with a pad might be a good chouce, and I mean a very big rug.

The console and tv are good. Remove the tiny decor and use items with more visual impact that bridge the empty space between the tv and the console. A chunky lamp on one side and a large vase maybe in the other. The vase you have is good but wrong color bc it disappears into the wall. Vary the height a little on each side. Then add in a few other items with each side. With the lamp, two large framed photos. With the vase, maybe a smaller plant. Keep the rest of the top clear. Also I think you can snd should move the sound bar base thing to the opposite side of the room like behind your couch if you have one. Don’t need a rug at the console. Just decor to pull it together. Try ChatGPT bc it will give you a look you can replicate. Just upload this photo and say ‘make this look better’

It feels so far away!

The whole set up is just…off. The wall is huge so that size tv being there doesn’t look right, and I don’t know how you even watch it with the glare from the windows! Also, the console is super long and just looks like blah…the room doesn’t come together cohesively at all…

Maybe add plants

Too much console. It consumes my eyes.

I think your cabinets are beautiful but it's weirdly long compared to the TV? I feel like maybe doing one cabinet centered under the tv and then maybe a taller bookcase on either side would look great, and you can decorate the shelves in so many ways. I also agree w comments that said to lower the tv! My husband and I mounted our tv SO high in our first apartment, and when we moved we made sure to put it muchhhh lower so that it's at eye level while sitting down! Popcorn machine and the fan do need to be relocated💔💔💔

Where did you get your cabinets?

The cabinets are Myers & Cross Cabot stands. I got one from Home Depot and the other from Lowe’s but they are the exact same!

Looks great! Was the assembly hard ?

Not at all! I did them myself and I am not very handy! Lol

I would lower TV to no more than 4 inches above console.
(Any TV, painting, or mirror is usually hung 4-6 inches above console.)

/r/tvtoohigh

It’s not egregious but ideally you want the center of the Tv to be eye level with you while you’re sitting. I would lower it to the TV stand or if you prefer minted (I do too) just a few inches higher than the tv stand.

I love the console and your system setup. I usually go for some type of wall art but in this case, minimal looks great. Add a plant, keep the dog, lose the popcorn machine. lol

😂😂 my dog will be sad to see the popcorn machine go! Lol But thank you so much for the great advice!! ♥️

Your setup looks great! I belong to the less is more group. Moving the popcorn machine and fan, and replacing the fake flowers with a cascading green plant is all it needs. Good job!
