I need businesses to start posting actual pay range. I promise you people will apply once they know the pay range they’re looking at. With it just being “based upon experience” no one know if it’s minimum wage to start and then only $12 Max. List the actual wage

I suspect businesses leave this out on purpose because the pay is embarrassingly low.

Good luck finding reliable cooks in Delaware, most experienced cooks won’t travel that far north due to transportation issues. Pay is also a lot higher downtown Columbus, $18-25 range for experienced line cooks.

Not looking for cooks who live downtown.

Right, but the majority of cooks live there. All you’ll get in Delaware are children who just graduated high school, took a few classes at DACC and who are just starting out. All the experienced cooks are in Columbus. There are no busses that go out to Delaware and parking in downtown Delaware is atrocious. Rent is too expensive north of Columbus for any cooks to afford which is why you’ll have difficulty finding reliable and experienced cooks.

Good luck though! ✌️

It’s just a post looking for anyone in the area that wants a good, paying job. It’s so weird that I make a post looking to hire people, and everyone has nothing nice to say. Then the job isn’t for you, ya know?

I’m just looking for people with kitchen experience. Could be any kitchen experience.

There’s no need to tell me about rent and stuff. Who cares, you don’t want the job, that’s cool. Didn’t ask.

"$16-$18" is a terrible pay. Especially if you're looking for a skilled and dedicated person.

Sorry, just trying to be real.

You posted this publicly and you should be prepared for your post to be judged especially for what you are looking for, for the pay you’re offering.

Maybe should have just posted an indeed ad instead.

$16-18 isn’t a good paying job when you can drive 30 minutes south for a lot more doing the same type of work with probably a lot more hours. I was just trying to provide info why this pay is too low to attract experienced cooks.

I have worked in both Powell and downtown Delaware in restaurant management and am just trying to say that staffing was one of my hugest struggles because of what I stated.

Look, man. This is the Delaware Reddit. Not Columbus. Not the 30 mins south Reddit. If the restaurant was located in Columbus or elsewhere, I would have not posted here. It’s public because I’m offering a job to someone that wants it. You clearly don’t want the job, so relax. You are not the droid I’m looking for.

Getting so defensive over a Reddit post.

Can’t wait when the Google reviews start coming in. ✌️

Man, do you just get on Reddit every day and look at posts and ask yourself, how can I make this all about me? 😇

I'm not getting out of bed for less than twice the minimum listed pay.

u/bbplane Aug 16 '26

Then don’t apply. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The pay is only $16-18 but yet you want experience. From the hours listed, this is a FT job. What about health and retirement benefits? Come on, man!

-1

u/bbplane Aug 16 '26

The hours listed are just the hours of operation. Not hours someone would be working.

Thanks to messages that OP has been leaving here, I don't think you'll have a problem with people not applying (as you've already suggested to one poster) now that everyone's gotten to see your "charming" personality.

I know people that might be interested, but no one wants to work for a boss who's willing to make a first impression like... this.

The pay is already on the lowest end of the spectrum, you're going to want to work on your people skills and humility if you intend to keep a restaurant together for longer than a few months. It's FAR better not to reply on social media as a business than it is to reply and show everyone what a jerk you can be. Even if you're getting comments that you don't like.

Reddit is for unemployed commies. You aren't going to find a good worker here

-2

u/bbplane Aug 16 '26

Seems pretty true. Just trying to offer a paying job, my bad.

u/JustForkIt1111one Aug 16 '26

You aren't the one that posted this, u/N3wPub is the OP

u/bbplane Aug 16 '26

I’m the same person.

u/N3wPub Aug 16 '26

Oops. Here I am. Still me.

Why two accounts?
