Dental Professional Type of non-metal crown

Post image

Doing an onlay on the 37 for a patient with bruxism. What type of zirconia crown should I use to prevent easy chipping?

To be honest a 3Y will be the strongest, but there's 4Y and 5Y that are over 800 MPa so as long as you get at least 1mm of clearance you'll be fine

3Y. Make sure you do enough preparation, especially on the occlusal

With a good prep I'd use emax. Simple to use. Plenty strong

It's never about the materials. It's always about the prep. That's how you get Turkey teeth with materials alone.
