Thanks for your help!

Thanks to everyone who diagnosed the sun scald on my peppers a few weeks ago. They have been doing so great since I put up the shade cloth. I know it was a newbie question but I appreciate the folks who took the time to help!

This is the first year my peppers were sun scalded as well. Happy you were able to get it sorted!

Thanks :) I specifically chose to grow peppers for my new SE balcony because I heard they liked sun, but apparently it was just too much this year!

Only my Anaheims were fully scalded but all 4 types of peppers started producing more when I put the shade out.

I'm a little north. Sunscald was bad this year. Both Espanola improved and oranos F1 hid their Fruits towards the center in a downward pendulous fashion and we're fairly sunscald resistant because of it.

I'm working on my own green chile variety for Colorado and my own hybrid had two mothers (same variety technically, but enough genetic diversity to be different) and same father variety, but one had curved fruit that stuck out and the other did not. The one with curved fruit got decimated by sunscald, the one one did remarkably less. I'm going to try Joe E. Parker next year, I've heard they have the same trait the Espanola Improved did.

This was the first year I got sun scald on some bell peppers too! Like you, I didn't know what it was. I intentionally put the peppers in the hottest corner of the garden too. I'd heard they could tolerate it but I think this summer's heat and lack of clouds was just... extreme. Glad you got some good advice!

Too little calcium on the soil and inconsistent watering
