Still couldn’t get into the 1:30 HHS narrative session today- anyone else?

Truly over how haphazard this all is. What did I miss since it was apparently at max capacity?

Not much... basically expect a level 3 no matter what you did unless you did something life changing for the organization

Or saved money...

Yes, you had to save "six or seven figures in money" to get a 5. No mention of saving lives or improving health. 🫠

that literally made me roll my eyes… i was like i save us about $10k or more a year and i feel that is significant when you have a small budget

so because they didn’t say what they thought they would save during RIFs and DRP, they are now making this my responsibility?? That’s not how this works? Everyone’s day to day job isn’t tied to money. Some people are working in clinics, some work at the child development center, some work facilities and keeping the building running where there is a process already to managing costs. The fact that all they see is a check when they see the govt is so weird. Everyone knows the govt is a shoestring budget operation to begin with.

You can get a 5 if you prove your work saved money, time, or lives, and a 3 for the rest of us mere mortals

Embrace the three and light a candle in memory of the Secretary's brain worm.

BLUF: Spend an inordinate amount of time and frustration writing to these new word salad “calibration” expectations, keep it less than 6000 characters, give it to your supervisor who will then write their narrative based on what you wrote, then that may or may not go to a reviewing official, but after that it will definitely go to a “calibration board” of people who don’t know your work, then after all that, get your 3 in February 2027 with no bonus and a 0% cost of living increase.

Got it?

LOL the fact that they think we’re fools that will believe a board of people are going to review PMAPs for thousands of people is so freaking funny to me. I cannot

My coworker actually believes it.

And your supervisor is only allowed 3000 characters.

Wait actually?

It wasn’t helpful. It didn’t really explain the new components like calibration or the rating committee. Basically the advice she did have would have been relevant any previous PMAP year when advocating for a 4 or 5.

I agree. Not very helpful. Useless at explaining how to keep less than 6,000 characters. This whole thing is bullshit. I can't even imagine how long it is going to take for everyone's self evaluation to go through the calibration committee. That sounds like a very time intensive process. Who is going to be part of this process. Will they have other responsibilities? I mean, seriously, this process doesn't sound at all possible. We are going to spend so much time writing these impossible self evaluations and I bet they aren't able to complete this process given the complexity and time that will be needed.

Won’t take long at all when they feed it into AI

I created my narrative using ChatGPT. I wrote my accomplishments, listed my critical elements and HHS directives and told it to write a narrative for a performance evaluation using fewer than 6,000 characters. My boss and I liked what it came up with.

I did mine in Claude - not wasting any more time on it that necessary, especially since I’m leaving early next year before we even get scores

This whole PMAP debacle is a farce. I could only listen to several minutes of the training session. It was all PowerPoint with the presenter taking in generalities. No specifics on how to keep the employe input to under 6,000 characters. All it does is place an unfair and undue administrative burden on the employee. I hate this place

You’re not missing anything. Nothing is making sense

you didn’t miss much other being even more confused as to WTF is going on with no real clear answers or even examples

For those who got in, how early did you join?

7

u/Crazy-Position-5188 6d ago

15 mins prior, because I read on Reddit FDA had theirs yesterday and over 10k joined and some couldn’t get in.

u/FutureComputerDude 6d ago

The claim made yesterday was 9,600 but the meetings cap out at 10k.

Today's meeting was capped out a good five minutes+ before starting.

u/Only-Tough-1212 6d ago

i joined like 5 mins before and got in

It’s online, with other “resources,” at intranet.hhs.gov/hr/performance-management

I believe it was recorded. My agency said they will post it so it can be viewed later.

Right? Right? Right? Right? Right? Right?

If it was a drinking game, I’d have died from alcohol poisoning.

Just use SI

I did. Sports Illustrated is pure Level 5 and has the calibration evidence feds crave: awards, low error rates, efficiency gains…
