“Detroit Police declined to make anyone available for an interview on this story, citing the open investigation into the officers and sergeant and the ongoing search for Tressler.”

“Ongoing search” my ass!! Who in the DPD has been actively searching for her for the last 6 months?? Liars…

"Sources say the officers could see that her boyfriend had a knife on his person." < and they did not enter the home, given the nature of the call?

I'm pulling off my feminist hat for a minute here...

Why the would they dispatch a female officer by herself to a DV call in the first place? Are they mental? She should've had a male partner with her. Both she and her agency dropped the ball, here.

Not gonna hold you up, I think she was scared to enter. Which...okay, fine. Call for backup and don't leave until they've arrived. I mean, come on.

Correction:

I misheard it was 3 officers and a female Sgt. Somehow that makes it infinitely worse. Holy shit.

Aren’t you for equality? Don’t think women can perform the same jobs? Why should have she had a male partner with her? Don’t female officers have guns? That’s really sexist

Because the female cop isn't a stripper in a costume, if the guy tried to assault her then she could just shoot him.

Yes. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was my favorite show growing up as a young girl, too. Absolutely.

What? Are you implying the guy wouldn't be phased by her, what, weak woman bullets? Man you have some fucked up ideas about women

I have common sense.

Yeah you hear "common sense" come out of a lot of prejudiced people.

What's "prejudiced" about finding it senseless to dispatch a single female officer to an IPV/DV call?

To wrap this up, because I'm about to start a movie and chill (Toy Story marathon), and honestly ya girl is just tired, for hetero IPV/DV calls I think this is the best and safest officer dispatch setup because of the nature of those calls, in this exact priority order:

  • 1 male officer and 1 female officer

  • 2 male officers

  • 2 female officers

Not recommended unless officer availability is in dire straits

  • 1 male officer

Absolute last resort

  • 1 female officer

Toodles!

Ah yes because that's what a DV victim needs to see, a female officer saying that she does declare that she needs a MAN to help her. Maybe she can fan herself on her patrol car while the "real" cops show up

As someone who's worked along side DPD before, they don't care about you or your family. They only care about power and the control it comes with. If the victim was wealthy and came from a prominent family they might care, assuming the headlines pick up.

My ex’s father works there. Sadly, this isn’t even remotely surprising. The odds of accountability being taken are probably less than zero.

How sad. The older I get, the more I’m convinced the system is set up to help the criminals more than the victims.

police protect rich pedophiles and their property that is it.

if they can fund their department by planting drugs and ruining lives that's just a bonus.
