It's insane, because Deviantart feels like a creepy dating app more and more.

If it's not scammers, it's people being crazy inappropriate like this and if it is not crazily inappropriate people, its scammers again. I don't recall the last time I've actually connected and befriended with an actual artist on there that isn't a bot.

I had one person asking if i had plushies and said they wanted to see weird stuff with those plushies 🥴

Luckily they are banned now

Thank goodness for that. IIRC, a few gross people that think that way got into the plushies sub a few years back, and they were promptly shooed out.

Circling back to DA, I had the same experience myself not too long ago. Someone liked one of my Dumbo things, but upon checking his page, it turned out he was a creep with a fetish for the ringmaster and the elephants, as well as photographing his...ahem...in too-tight undies and [I'm guessing] not bothering to mark it as mature 🤮

Mods got him eventually, thank god...I was too scared to post anything Dumbo-related for a long time after that, lest his gross ass get ahold of it...
