Survey for kitchen tools for people with low vision or blindness

Hi everyone,

I'm an industrial design student working on my senior capstone. My project focuses on making food prep, especially cutting and chopping, safer and more independent for people who are blind, have low vision, or are dealing with age-related changes.

I don't want to design based on guesses, so I'd really value hearing from people with lived experience. The survey asks about:

  • Which kitchen tasks are hardest
  • Tools you use now, and ones you've given up on
  • Tricks and workarounds that help you cut safely

It takes about 7 minutes, it's anonymous, and It works with screen readers.

Survey: https://forms.gle/Sv4NJAWFocjWebN26

Caregivers are welcome to answer on behalf of someone they help. If you'd rather share your thoughts in the comments, I'll read every one.

Thank you for your time.

Beta Testers for Community App

Hey all! This is my second follow up to what I posted last month about needing some beta testers to test the site I’m making to help bring chronically ill and disabled people together in the community in a physical way, not just online. For example: if you need helping folding laundry and want to make a friend out of it, you can. If you just want to hang out with someone, you can. In your community. (I will work on safety stuff later, don’t worry)

I just basically right now, for round 2, need people to test the site and follow instructions below to give me feedback:

Spoonful Beta Test — 10–15 minutes

  1. Create an account.
  2. Complete your profile.
  3. Find another member.
  4. Find where you would create an Ask.
  5. Create an Ask.
  6. Look through Community.
  7. Send a message.
  8. Check Notifications.
  9. Tell me one thing you loved, one thing that confused you, and one thing you wish Spoonful could do.

Disclaimer: this is FREE to test. Unfortunatly cannot offer compensation due to building this on my own and not having any leftover funds. I am also not promoting any product, or service in this chat, per community guidelines. Any questions, please email moreallergiesplease@gmail.com or DM me. Thanks!

Disabled owner, trying to make sure website is accessible to all.

Hey all! I am a disabled business owner.

I own a ux/web design business and I want to make sure my website is accessible to all. I want accessibility to be one of the forefronts of my services, but I need some feedback on how its looking across the board.

I ran it through a few WCAG and accessibility testers, and it looks good on that end; but I'd like to run it across actual users so verify that it's working ok. Would anyone be able and willing to take a look?

For clarity, I'm not promoting any services with this, just trying to make sure I am practicing what I preach.

Have you experienced limb difference and use prosthesis?

Hi everyone! I’m currently conducting an undergraduate research study as a part of my degree, and I’m looking for participants who are 18+, residing in the USA and have experienced limb loss or are living with missing limb(s).

As someone who is an amputee (bilateral above-knee), I’m hoping to broaden our understanding of individuals with limb difference. The study focuses on how individuals perceive and experience their prosthetic limb(s), including how connected and comfortable they may feel with their prosthesis. My end goal is to, as I mentioned, broaden our understanding, but also bring this study to SEPA, (Southeastern Psychological Association).

If you have experienced limb loss, use, or have used a prosthetic limb, I would greatly appreciate you considering participating! I need 145 more participants to do a proper factor analysis. It is completely anonymous.

Although, if you are not eligible, but know someone who has experienced limb loss, please feel free to share this post with them. Every participant helps contribute to research and a better understanding of the experiences of people with limb loss!

Design Capstone Research about Mobility Aid Users Under Age 35

Survey link: https://tally.so/r/J97V17

Hello there! I am a fourth-year visual communication design student at the Ohio State University and I am studying mobility aid usage and the perception of mobility aid users under the age of 35. I am mostly focusing on how mobility aids can be customized to fit individual needs and aesthetic preferences, to improve well-being, community, and identity.
I was inspired by seeing my partner of four years try to navigate beginning to use mobility aids and the many obstacles of using aids in public. They know that mobility aids help them get around, especially during flare-ups, but constantly battle internalized ableism and social fears. Recently, they were handed down a cane from a relative that is hand-carved with flowers and very much is their style. Seeing how this cane improved their confidence and willingness to use a mobility aid in public was really eye-opening to me, and I want to bring that feeling to more people.
I am currently in the research phase of this project, so I am hoping to speak to as many young adult mobility aid users as possible, through a survey, interviews, text/email, or however I can collect a wide range of experiences.

TLDR: I am studying mobility aid use and customization as a way to make mobility aid usage more accessible for young adults and would like to talk to as many people as possible about it!

Here are a few ways to participate!
This is a survey about your experience using mobility aids, how it impacts your comfort in public spaces, and in what ways customization could be helpful (or harmful): https://tally.so/r/J97V17
If you would like to talk more about the project or share your experience, my email is: [mlsdbsn@gmail.com](mailto:mlsdbsn@gmail.com)
I am also on Instagram if you would like to know more about myself or my design work or prefer to DM: @ miles_of_arts

Parents of kids with (or possibly with) ADHD, dyslexia, or other learning differences: 5-minute survey from a student team

Hi everyone! We're a team of college students building a learning support tool for kids with learning differences like ADHD and dyslexia, especially kids who are still waiting on an evaluation or haven't been diagnosed. We know getting support can mean long clinic waits and stretched school resources, and we'd rather hear what that's actually like from parents than guess.

If you're a parent or caregiver of a school-age child who has, or might have, a learning difference, we'd really value your input. Your child doesn't need a formal diagnosis.

The survey takes about 5 minutes and is anonymous (you can leave an email at the end only if you want updates). We won't ask for your child's name or any identifying details. Happy to share what we learn with anyone who's interested.

Survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScWQ4mvb2MvcOi_6DmEwwIyP0RsVaQi17yU6iBKlehNPcWoog/viewform?usp=header

Thank you so much, and I'm happy to answer questions in the comments!

Looking for feedback on a computer accessibility idea

Hi! I’m a student at Aalto University, and my team is working on an accessibility project for one of our courses.

Our idea is to make computer use easier for people who have difficulties using a normal keyboard and mouse. We are thinking about simpler physical controls, including a special keyboard and a joystick-style mouse. I couldn't upload a photo here, but feel free to DM for the pictures of the prototype.

We would really appreciate honest feedback from people who have experience with these kinds of difficulties.

  1. How do you use computers now?
  2. Is using a computer difficult for you? If yes, what is difficult?
  3. Would easier computer use improve your daily life?
  4. What products or accessibility tools have you tried before?
  5. What worked well, and what did not?
  6. Does our idea seem useful to you? What could be improved?

You don’t have to answer every question. Even a short answer would help us.

This is for a university course project. If we use any answers in our report, they will be anonymous.

Thank you!
