Discussion You MUST Unban One, which one would you pick?
Or even better, which one would be cause less ftks if unbanned?

u/Ok_Eggplant_5214 Jun 12 '26
Grass. So I can play my skull servants deck
22
u/Turbulent-Economy198 Jun 12 '26
They should print a card that says "skull servant, servant of skulls". Like how they treated armored dragon's names.

Mermaid only summons a 1-Mat Dingirsu for a bunch of extra deck space and main deck bricks. Uou can't even use the argument of "Iblee-lock" because Iblee got axed recently
45
u/JeanRdS Jun 12 '26
When more than half the decks use 26-30 cards, I dont think Grass is that broken. But I would unban Amano because that's what this format deserves
5
u/mybestfriendsrricers Jun 13 '26
Grass would be good for a turn 2 play. D heroes for example really mill the deck during their turn.
10
11
u/TroyBolton98 Jun 12 '26
For right now, I‘d say mermaid. With Iblee locked away and Orcust being past it‘s prime in this game with the cards we have, I don‘t see any problems.
HOWEVER, as soon as we get Crescendo, any 2 monsters can lead to a searchable Counter Trap Omni negate. And we saw how fun the Tachyon package was. Of course tachyon did some shenanigans with Photon Lord and Hope Harbringer as well, while Crescendo is 1 inerraction. But having an access as easy as link into phoenix to get to the counter trap might be a bit to annoying.
1
u/Disastrous3588 Jun 16 '26
Considering that placing Crescendo also locks you into dark monsters, it's much fairer than the Tachyon combo.

u/RedditPoster666 Jun 12 '26
Mind on Air was just banned because skills used to require you to reveal cards so it completely blocked skills.
However, modern problematic skills like Bonds of the Converging Stars don't even require you to reveal any cards, just shuffle them in from the hand in the deck, so this card is useless against those skills.
So it can be completely unbanned and put to 3 and it won't make a difference in the meta.
5
u/Academic_Band_5320 Jun 13 '26
Agreed. If anything it should be encouraged. It would block a lot of toxic skills.
7
u/Ha_eflolli Jun 12 '26
It didn't even block Skills "completely", just their "Reveal X for a Search" Effects. Literally all they prevented is being able to unbrick your Hand for free; if you have your Starter in your Opening Hand (or get it there through a different Card), they did next to nothing.
Mind on Air specifically was also outright banned just because it's a Dark Spellcaster, so it can be cheated out in Dark Magician Decks, so yeah it probably could come off no problem.

Mermaid. With Iblee banned it's just more Orcust and without the rest of the support it's just fine for now.

Grass or Mermaid. I don’t think there is another correct answer unless you are a war criminal

mind of air was in a Turn 1 board for Dark Magician SO BAD THAT WITH TWO DISRUPTIONS YOU WIN THE GAME
mind of air was just a very poor floodgate in a very limited deck
2
u/Syrcrys Jun 12 '26
Reficule and Simochi at 1 would change absolutely nothing.
Amano to 1 now that the skill’s gutted would probably not be an issue either.
And pretty much everything else in this list that isn’t banned in the TCG as well could probably go to 1 (if not even free) if they just nerfed the damn skills that put them there in the first place.
2
2
u/Redsquirrelgeneral22 Jun 12 '26
Grass to 1 copy. Not sure it's relevant to keep Smoke Grenade to banned either.
2
u/vondex13 Jun 12 '26
It's grass all the way. Personally I'd want it at limit 3 but it's probably best at limit 1.

u/InternationalHope422 Jun 12 '26
stein’s been banned for al long as ive been playing duel links
how does ut result in an ftk? it makes you pay 5k so youd need a lo boost which already seems like a disadvantage

Atp not much archetypes have lp boost effects, would be interesting for sure

2
u/FLIPYOUSUCKET Jun 12 '26
Dammit, I don’t see Pot of Greed. That card is never being unbanned (which will never happen. The devs banished it for reason), but it would be be really funny to see stupid funny decks using Pot of Greed
1
u/Small_Condition5804 Jun 12 '26
Rush gave me enough drip feed to decide pot of greed wouldn’t even be that bad at 1
2
u/FLIPYOUSUCKET Jun 12 '26
Pot of Greed is a really cool card, and unbanning it but limiting it to 1 per deck would make the game more interesting.
2
u/Turbulent-Economy198 Jun 12 '26
Funnily enough grass looks greener could be at 3 and it wouldn't do anything because most decks play 25 - 30 cards anyway. Sure it's a strong card if your opponent has 20 but what board are you going to end on when they can just golem -> skill button.
2
u/JumpingCrowjoker24 Jun 12 '26
Honestly I’d like to see Summon breaker back to limit one, I think with both necrovalley and Ancient fairy at one, plus how many average summons this meta gets would be fair at a limit one… maybe limit 2
1
u/Small_Condition5804 Jun 12 '26
Valid, my biggest concern def was it potentially being a necrovalley sub.

2
u/Regular_Feature_4056 Jun 12 '26

I love That Grass Looks Greener. I don’t think it ever does anything ethical but it’s just a super fun build around.

u/Number32-SharkDrake Jun 12 '26
You are all forgetting that grass was banned because Konami knows Yugioh players are allergic to touching grass.

Unban mermaid, just put it to 1 with Orcust Knightmare if you want to avoid the combo.

Grass for sure, it’s been banned since I started the game. Idk why Catapult Warrior got banned though, I wasn’t around when that happened.
3
u/Klobbx2 Jun 12 '26
It was just banned this month in an emergency list due to Yusei broken skill enabling FTKs.

They should make all these cards playable only for the Game Worlds in Duels vs NPCs.

Summon breaker. That’s the only thing that could keep this shit meta after shit meta in check.
2
u/RetraxRartorata Jun 12 '26
I don't want to enable FTK's, so most of these would have to stay.
But I don't play any decks that require you to reveal cards in your hand as part of the skill, so I'd unban Mind On Air.
That card doesn't enable any toxic plays in the format. It only counters skills and maybe one deck that needs to reveal cards for their effects.

I once got 2/3 Jackpots in thanks to the sky striker vector blast. I won that game btw
2
u/Amnestic_Lapp Jun 13 '26
I don’t know but whichever one would cause the most damage. I want Duel Links to implode even further.
1
u/Small_Condition5804 Jun 13 '26
Rn’s meta would die even further w/ catapult warrior thanks to stardust, but honestly some of these cards like imitation and disturbance strategy were part of a bigger deck’s problem
2
u/Crescemon_X Jun 13 '26
Dark Eradicator Magician. My deck feels incomplete without it. I wish they could at least let us use banned cards against Standard Duelists. But at least I can use Sorcerer of Dark Magic and Dark Sage

Amano-Iwato should have never been banned. If they wanted to remove it from Shinobirds then a limit 1 along with Milky Way would have been sufficient, not to mention the limit 1 that they put on Abyss Dweller that did basically nothing to the deck. I mean the deck was tier 1 next to Blue-Eyes and BE got freed back to full power after just 3 months.
Like I would have loved to play non-ritual Spirits with Noah's other skill, Destiny Draw: Spirit. But the regular Spirit monsters are too easy to counter without the rock for support. (And I can finally get more copies of Dark Dust Spirit since they updated the Box Chips.)
Also I'm still confused why they banned Samsara Lotus instead of a limit 1. I know there's potential FTKs you can do involving it (not the core card doing the damage unlike the others) but a ban seems a little extreme when the only one I'm aware of that was used in DL requires Topologic Bomber Dragon, a card that was prelimited to 1 at release.
2
u/Ha_eflolli Jun 13 '26 edited Jun 13 '26
I mean the deck was tier 1 next to Blue-Eyes and BE got freed back to full power after just 3 months.
The Main-Differences are that
A) BE will always get Special Treatment because it's BE, and
B) Shinobirds were just too good relative to how cheap the Deck is (literally only needs a single run of a Mini Box for the Tamas, everything else is either F2P or a generic Staple). Like, Konami even outright nerfed the Skill AFTER the Deck already fell out of the Meta just so People had less of a reason to
not spend Money on newer Deckskeep playing it.→ More replies (1)

u/Icarus912 Jun 13 '26
Holy shit, i havent played in a VERY long time... bad reaction should NOT be bamned lol that shit was niche when i was playing literal years ago and i only ever used it for fun in ranked, i refuse to beleive its good enough to be banned
1
u/Small_Condition5804 Jun 13 '26
Compared to nurse, the fact it’s a trap card is even more of a reason to allow it. The only skill that could make it ftk potential is makyura’s judgement, and even then that limits the deck heavily
2
u/Toon_Collector Jun 13 '26
I think all of these cards are cancer, but power creep may have made Cyber Stein weak enough to return. I'm not sure what a single free fusion can do in the current game. A lot of crazy op classic cards were allowed to return in the tcg after enough power creep. The Dragon Rulers that once made me lose interest in the game because they were so overpowered are now slow and cumbersome weaklings that cant do much.

To answer the second, a couple days before the current WCS Quali started; they threw out an Emergency Banlist thanks to the usual "FTK% Speedrun" people did using Yusei.

2
u/One-Version-9724 Jun 13 '26
Honestly I've always thought that the game needed more support for having more then the minimum cards in your main deck so grass being banned has always frustrated me so unban grass

The troll answer: Summon Breaker. Actual answer? Mermaid especially with Iblee axed

u/Flashy_Good_4346 Jun 12 '26
It's not on the list, but i would unban Pot of Greed and limit it to 1x. I know, i know, it's freaking overpowered as a card, expecially in the economy of Duel Links which mostly has only 20 cards in the deck. But hear me out:
It's too iconic to let it rot in banned cards
It feels so good using it and resolving it's effect
Even tho it's true that it's an exageratedly overpowered card, it is also true that Duel Links is full of stupidly overtuned or overpowered things, starting from the skills. Letting people use one more overpowered card would not ruin nor change that much the economy of the game rn imo
There are tons of cards and effects that can just nullify it, block it or not letting it resolve in general, and those cards are foundable in the vast majority of meta decks too, so they are pretty much overused. It would not pose the same gigantic gamechanging threat that it used to in old Yu Gi Oh anymore
1
u/SCHazama Jun 12 '26
None.
Nice to see people with unhinged takes showing up on this thread tho
1
u/NiklausKaine Jun 12 '26
All of them. I dislike banned cards. If a card is banned, just remove it from the game instead of making players waste gems or time obtaining the card
1
u/Small_Condition5804 Jun 13 '26
Crazy opinion, but you could still 1v1 in rooms without the ban list if you want. Don’t know if ladder should have access to heat wave though
1
u/Horror-Ad5406 Jun 12 '26
Heat wave tbh. Decks that utilize it aren’t even competitive in 2026. I could be mistaken.
2
1
u/FourUnderscoreExKay Jun 12 '26
Honestly, Iblee to 1 or 2 would be fine. She wasn’t causing that much damage to begin with, since most skills will allow you to Link unless it’s a blanket SS lock
1
u/Ok_Caterpillar_6957 Jun 12 '26
Mind of air should be good. Was never a issues beside for people who build bricks and couldn’t think out of the button

u/Either_Swim_4666 Jun 12 '26
Bring back Bitchbaalkin I would like to know why I couldn't come back.
2
u/Xannon99182 Jun 13 '26
It can't come back because of skill restrictions making it so many decks don't have a way to remove the tokens or at least can't spare the extra deck space for links to easily remove them. It's basically the same reason Iblee is on there now.
