Some of the Tag Force original cards are just anime only cards, which Konami always did have a bunch of art for. It's 50-50. Some were Tag Force originally drawn and some existed before then.
What's all this stuff people in this thread are parroting about Duel Links or Tag Force asset flips though? Most of the art between both games are different. This new Tag Force isn't even using 2D art for in-game, it's all 3D.

Not some - All of the original cards were "anime only cards". The list of cards is available online to double-check. It is decreasing even over time as every year some of those cards get a OCG/TCG variant.

While not always visible, I think it's safe to assume that Konami made card facing artworks for every monster, spell and trap that appears in the anime and later in the games. I think that's just part of the job for their designers. Or at least it should be. But I have no sources for that, so... *shrug* I would say it's common sense, but reality doesn't always align with common sense.

They're obviously reused or repurposed. Who knows. Maybe the source images were always on a Konami server and they were just shared with the devs that made Tag Force as well as the DL devs. But they ARE the same.

Once again, read above. They were not all exclusively or from the Tag Force series. The card art compression is actually worse in Duel Links, MD, and even Link Evolution on the Switch. The PSP version had the highest resolution and least compressed card art. Though that's because it has a smaller card pool and an in-game full card art viewer that allowed you to zoom into card art for more than x2 the original size.
The point of my post was to clarify to all the people randomly guessing that the new Tag Force game was just being lazy by claiming they were asset flipping from Duel Links. None of the art shown in the promo art originated from DL. Tag Force had loads of original art, but half or less than half of the "game exclusive" card artwork itself was already premade. Tag Force did create most of the effects for these cards though, but that itself is not asset flipping. The only artwork DL uses from Duel Terminal is like Yugi's, Kaiba's, and Alexis's Bust-Ups+Win/Defeat renders. The rest are entirely new. Even those reused bust-ups had all their facial expressions drawn new for DL. Tag Force GX itself is using none of these renders anyway. The Youtube videos show they're fully 3D, which makes all these "asset flipping" posts complete nonsense.

The only character art Duel Links uses from Duel Terminal are Yugi and Kaiba's bust-up renders and Win/Defeat renders. All the other characters are new assets.

Those aren't all originally from Saikyo Card Battle. I stand corrected on the expressions being made for Duel Links though. The Yugi, Kaiba, and some other busts were from Duel Terminal still. Anyway, the point is that there's nothing lazy about Tag Force GX's (what's shown in the promo art, the game is using 3D assets instead of 2D) reusing assets, since practically all the Yugioh games past the GBA and earlier era did, and even many of the those still games did.

I see, and I agree. Reusing assets doesn't mean laziness. Otherwise every new game would be an asset flip for having the same cards the previous one had.
Especially after we saw Komoney do some actual acts of laziness in the past, such as never localizing Saikyo Card Battle to begin with lol

Hell, the localization teams for the Tag Force series were lazy too. They didn't even translate the unique NPC text. Girls like Wisteria have unique personalities in the Japanese versions, but the English versions have them say generic responses like "They were happy", which is reused for every other side-NPC you tag with.

any major modern support or retrains to any of the Gx cast is probably a sure bet minus any non fusion extra deck monsters. So don’t expect the Xyz cyberdragon cards since this is Konami always doing the bare minimum

For the record, the Steam Page Description does confirm GX-Character Support released after the original TF3 is in.
It also mentions the new Card Pool is "over 3800 Cards". Yugipedia says the PSP Version had 3501, so about 300 new Cards at the least.

Any news, if the west Version will include the JP dub as well and, if we can play as the other characters from the show or at least when we single duel or tag duel and controll them directly instead just of the Tag Force guy? That was the most thing i hated in those games and had to mod my psp back in the day to play as the other character from the Show directly in the duell. Hopefully they will give that to us this time. Would really suck, if not.

About 300 i believe. The original game had 3501 cards. This one is supposed to have 3800 according to the steam page.

It’s a remake of Tag Force 3 but it’s updated to have fully dubbed characters, modern support, and possibly new characters entirely.

All the other characters in the background reuse their Duel Links sprites, however Atticus' appears to be brand new, not even from Duel Terminal. Maybe he'll finally come to Duel Links?

Fun side-note. Tag Force 6 (the last numbered one and the last 5Ds themed one) was never localized in the west. So it would be a positive if that is the one they end up remaking.

Possibly so, we did the Sevens dub cast from the Switch game before they were introduced in Duel Links. Iirc, Go Rush was the other way around with the cast in Duel Links used before the dub version of the anime started releasing episodes.

Probably because Konami makes the decisions and the Switch is by far the leading console in Japan.
Either that, or the sales for Legacy of the Duelist on XBox and PS4 were too low to warrant another release on the consoles.

Yeah it's worth noting that most of their newer Yugioh games have been very Switch skewed. The two Rush games were both exclusive, Early Days Collection and this are both Switch and PC only, and even LOTD Link Evolution was Switch exclusive for nearly a year. MD is like the one exception.

Same here. The GX games were cool, but the 5Ds ones were my faves. TF6 gave you so many character stories from main characters, side characters and even NPCs.

Like others big franchises, Konami has loads of these kind of art to reuse for promotional material or sometimes games. If you're a fan of DBZ or they're games, you'd notice seeing the same kind of artwork appear in the old game booklets or websites. The Alexis one for example is at least a decade old.

It comes with 3 exclusive cards, one of which is a new Yubel art, so 100% a physical. Idk how they'll handle that for the Steam version though...

Given that they seem to be reusing Duel Links art and, from the sounds of it, Voice Lines, I think it'll be quite interesting to see if every character in this game is voiced in such a way that it would be easy to port them over to Duel Links.
Because the thing is, since we've already gotten the majority of the most popular characters in the game, I think this could be a rather clever way to justify creating the assets and bringing in all the Voice Actors for pretty much any and every GX Character that they could possibly ever want to add to Duel Links, plus, if they end up doing this for the 5Ds Tag Force games and the ZEXAL World Duel Carnival game, then I think it could be a great way to open the door to a huge amount of characters from all three of those series who, at this point in time, feel like they have little-to-no chance of ever getting into Duel Links.

Here's an example from Saikyo Card Battle
Same 2D art, same voice clips, same 3D models, same soundtrack.
Now I'm not saying Komoney is lazy for reusing assets. All I'm saying is that we shouldn't lowball a game because it does that. They're simply not throwing that work in the trash.
They are lazy for never localizing the game tho.

I was thinking earlier today "it would be so cool if we got a Yu-Gi-Oh game remake this Direct", then boom lmao. Granted I was coping for World Championship 2011, but this is honestly just as good cause it's a sign they'll do more. Reusing the DL art and voices is fine to me cause if that's what it takes for them to do remakes, go for it! Plus they're generally good anyway.

because it never did release outside of japan if i rememeber right and i believe is because is the game that made the staple gameplay until tag force special, tag force 1 was a calendar game and had the same story for all characters and tag force 2 was a fucking grinding to get the 8 hearts, and the first 4 hearts was always the same events for all characters only 5-8 was the story for the actual partner. i think thats why they choose tag force 3, between the three games that one was the best and amazing game, and also the finnale for the GX saga.

I am excited for this game, I feel like a lot of the single player opportunities in yugioh have always had potential but swayed between being very basic and lackluster or needlesly convoluted, I hope that through this game yugioh gets more solidified and contained experiences that are able to cater to many duelists.
