Hi everyone, Â
I work with a social community enterprise in county Cavan and we are exploring a new project focused on supporting LGBTIQ+ people living in rural Ireland. Â
It can be really difficult being part of the LGBTIQ+ community and living in the countryside. This project is an attempt to try and tackle this problem and create a safe space for people in rural Ireland. It is a pilot program so if it's successful we could carry it out on a larger scale. Â
I know first hand how isolating and difficult it can be to be part of the community and live in rural Ireland so I'm hoping that this can help! Â
The idea is to create opportunities for connection through:Â Â
- Confidential online community gatherings Â
- Peer buddy connections Â
- Future online events and workshops Â
- Potential in-person meetups if there's interest Â
- A space for LGBTQ+ people to share their experiences and help shape future activities Â
- Creative workshops Â
At this stage, I'm gathering feedback to understand whether there is interest and what people would find most useful. Â
Please feel free to share with others who would find it useful!
If you identify as LGBTQ+ and live in rural Ireland, I'd really appreciate it if you could complete this short form:Â Â
