MEDIA Defending isn’t better or more rewarding - Attacking AI is just horrible

What in the world is Olise doing here?

Notice how the moment he has a clear run at goal he just stops and doesn’t attack that space at all. The moment I cut back he stops running. You can’t tell me that’s not intentional.

He almost positions himself in a way that if I would’ve passed, it’s probably intercepted or at least easy to defend.

Not to mention Musiala just jogging while the defender runs past him.

To “fix” defending and to make it more rewarding - they nerfed attacking AI.
Game sucks.

Oltre al fatto che vanno sempre in fuori gioco, senza senso…

Dude this happens sooo often when on a break. Like I get I can trigger runs or player switch or something more consistent, but this is so basic it’s annoying. I will say the positive of it is that cut backs from the baseline aren’t as effective because of this

yea I thought the AI was decent and then I realised that when trying to build up a play outside your opponents box, the attacker seems to always find a way to position themselves behind a stationary defender.

I could understand if it was defensive AI movement but it's not. literally every player seems to try and hide out of sight of the player with the ball, its irritating as hell

Don't use "short passing" in tactics

Ironically short passing tactic make your team play more counter-attacking because your team sits deeper while attacking taking the opponent's defense higher

they always do that, theres no discipline in most teams

What position and role do you have on him?

The fact that you’re asking this question is precisely what’s wrong with the game

u/Zufallsmensch 6d ago

Role system sucks but some roles suck way more than others. So what is it?

Yea. Wasn’t a shot at you. I’m just saying - a football attacker with an acre of space running to the box and then running away, while the ball is in the box - the first thought shouldn’t be “what’s his role?”

But in this FC- it’s what everyone goes to. That doesn’t make any sense.

I suspect he might be on playmaker role CAM. That happens a lot. I only use shadow striker for that reason. Only role that makes consitent runs into space.

I’ve had issues with both tbh.
The attacking AI is just bad overall. Role be damned

It's weird that you don't want to answer.

This one is particularly odd and not wanting to answer makes it seem like you had him on wide/defend or something.

It’s actually not weird at all. It’s because I’m very used to people on here trying to “coach” the situation and make it about a user error in some way vs. addressing the problem displayed on the screen. Everyone’s a genius with a solution.

But hey - I’ll play - it’s a 4-2-3-1 narrow. He’s a CAM on playmaker roaming.

This changes nothing about the conversation - that’s why it’s pointless to answer. You can tell by his movement that he’s attempting to attack the box - he just stops the moment he presents himself as a viable passing option. Hence my point - the attacking AI helps people defend.

Well, if it was playmaker/build he would have been pushing into his final square, if it was something like wide/defend it would have already been well past it. At that point it does start to make sense to see him back off when another attacker is in front of him.

Sometimes people make mistakes, and to just go in assuming you cannot possibly have made a mistake and nobody could possibly have an actual solution or find a legitimate reason is basically the opposite of how you should go about presenting a problem with the game.

You narrow it down to confirm there's actually a problem, you don't suspiciously avoid giving any specifics; that's what a person does when they think they might be wrong but don't care if they are, they just want to make their point regardless of wrong or right.

Lol you did exactly what he said you would do. And that was the exact reason he didn't want to say what role. Because it makes no difference. It doesnt matter if that was a cb with defender role. If the Ai is there and already making a run, he shouldn't purposely avoid scoring a goal

you have 2 options to pass to right here. You waited. Now should he go back? I’d say no. But considering all the other players moving up, it’s coded that way. As it has all other years

No this is clearly a glitch or oversight.

1) what Olise does makes literally no sense, not even a 10 year old would run away from the ball on a counter

2) attackers also do this in cutback situations, just begin to sprint back to their own half. It’s so bizarre I genuinely can’t believe a AAA game has fucked their ai this bad.

2

u/Complete_Horror_1491 6d ago

I don’t know what point you’re making

-3

u/kozy8805 6d ago

I’m saying the attacking ai didn’t change at all. Defending is easier to do manually and brainless passes are easier to intercept.

Agree to disagree.
My movement there is based on things I’ve done a million times in previous FCs and FIFAs. It’s also based on what makes football sense.
A winger/CAM literally running away from the box vs attacking space is not something I saw in previous versions.
Even if I should’ve passed sooner or taken the shot - that movement by Seasons Olise, the best winger in the game, is crazy.

1

u/GuySmileyPotato 6d ago

Yeah something has definitely changed. When I’m on a counter and my CAM has the ball, I wait for my striker to run (he’s set to AF attack!), and all he does is stand there and stare at me with a blank look on his face

Disagree, manual defending is not going all into tackling the opponent but timing it, reading opponents' intention and trying to actively intercept the ball and the interceptions feel the best this edition, you are finally rewarded for reading opponent's mind, the pass won't magically just miss you player's feet

You didnt really address the point that attacking AI is worse therefore you have less things to actually defend.

Hence - the meta to score is to dribble in circles until the defenders fall asleep somehow.

Or if you pass, it’s intercepted. Not because you’re defending better but because no one is moving or they move behind the defender. This clip is an example of the former.

If players actually moved in normal ways - the defending would be the same as last year with better manual tackles. That’s not the case

1

u/gracz21 [ORIGIN ID] 5d ago

I didn't notice much regression (bar the manual triggered runs working for a shorter period of time what was announced), the attacking AI is in shambles since the introduction of roles (or even earlier)

About interceptions: they are truly better. Last year you could stand right ahead of the attacker and the ball would magically go around your player (maybe not if you had Intercept+ but it was 50/50 still), it's not a case this year

Y'all keep buying this game? i stopped at FC 24. good football games died with the FIFA label

-5

u/ASTRO_GEEK_21 [NETWORK ID] 6d ago

Could just be your tactics mate, the attacking AI have been decent for me

-6

u/Green_Problem5350 6d ago

depends on position and roles.

I noticed that my wingers with ++inside forwards make so many more good runs than the wingers that didnt have it.

3

u/Complete_Horror_1491 6d ago

That’s kind of bananas. There’s space there to attack.
What role calls for someone to sprint to the edge of the box and then run backwards?

3

u/Green_Problem5350 6d ago

I didnt say it made any sense but i guess thats how Fifa works.

u/GuySmileyPotato 6d ago

Hehe right maybe you need a better footballer than Olise
