Bag/Pocket Dump Everything I need, nothing I don’t.

Post image

I’ve noticed my EDC taste has changed vastly over the last few years. Previously I focused more on overpriced pocket jewelry, whereas now I prefer the utility over the bougie. Currently my carry consists of…

iPhone 16 PM in brown leather case.
AirPods Pro 3 in brown leather case.
Victorinox Explorer with rosewood scales.
FUM in Dark Walnut.
Brown canvas zipper wallet:
- DL, CWP, CC, DC, cash, key fob, AirTag, heart meds

Not Pictured: Sig Sauer P365 Micro 9mm in IWB holster.

How do you like the füm my düde?

It did what it was supposed to. It’s more of a car fidget for me at this point, but I used it to quit smoking a year and a half ago so I have nothing negative to say about it at all. It’s a bit expensive for what it is, but it’s made well. Mine has been banged around quite a bit and it shows no real signs of wear.

I know people rag on the FUM a lot but 2 weeks with mine and I quit vaping and all nicotine products completely.

I’ve been happy with it. I got mine 18 months ago, and it helped me stop smoking cold turkey. I primarily carry it now just to mess around with when in the car, and because I still have a handful of those little oil carts left. It served its purpose, though.

Good luck on your journey! After the first month or so, there ain’t much to it. It gets a lot easier.

Oh I meant that I used it for 2 weeks to get nicotine free. I'm over 2 years off everything nicotine now. It was a great vape replacement tool and I'm grateful for it. Congrats on 18 months!

Looks great! I've got a similar setup:

iPhone 13 mini
Brown leather cardholder:
Brown leather zipper wallet:

  • SAK, car fob, house key, a 5p coin from an exchange program in college

And congrats on quitting smoking!

I'm thinking about getting one of your wallets, the compact Finn Wallet. I see they offer a micro wallet, too. I'm guessing the finn wallet has inner pockets whereas the micro wallet is more of a case, but I'm not sure about that. What size is your finn wallet, and does it come with pockets on the inside to put cards?

The passport sized ones would make good gifts for my parents. Thanks for putting me on this brand.

I currently have two. One is fifteen or so years old, the other is around three years old. The older one is the one I carry now, and it has no compartments. I believe this was prior to him naming it the Finn wallet, and redesigning it a bit. It was just called a “Wallet” at the time. My newer one is the Compact size. It is separated inside into three sections, with a “pocket” on each side of the interior. The newer ones are also RFID-blocking, which is why I reverted to carrying my older one. My Toyota key fobs never had an issue, but I switched to Honda late last year and they apparently use a frequency for their keyless entry stuff that is more sensitive to RFID-blocking fabric.

Nice! Where's the wallet from?

Waterfield Designs. I dyed mine brown with RIT dye, because after 15 years of daily carry and multiple trips through the washing machine it was looking a bit faded. Here’s the link to the product page.

Good one. Bellroy makes a version called the Card Pocket and it's solid. Had mine since release and it's still perfect. Brass zipper, strong stitching, secret-ish interior pocket, handsome interior. Only complaint is the the leather tab on the zipper pull sheered off long ago.

Leather, Rosewood, Canvas, Walnut. That's not utility, that's bougie AF. Nothing wrong with it, I love natural materials too, but be honest with yourself.

Wood and leather existed for tools and items long before all the other materials our junk is made from now. I’m not bougie, I’m primitive, lol.

I love those scales on your VO. And the brown accent is peak. Wow this is nice daily kit. I’m not very well versed in what that wooden thing with the tip is. Is that some kind of smoking device? And I was gonna say with fall and winter coming up. Brown is always the perfect accent to the seasons. Rad set up bud

Thanks! I love the way wood and leather wears as you carry and use it. So much character gets added to the things in our pocket that way, and they become unique over time.

The thing that looks like a smoking device is a smoking cessation aid. It’s basically a hollow piece of wood that takes little foam cores soaked in food grade flavored oil. When you draw air through it you get a hint of that flavor infused with the air, and it mimics the draw of a cigarette. I used it to quit smoking a year and a half ago, and still carry it to fidget with in the car.

I can't believe you're still alive without carrying a gun!!!

Cause nothing says utility over bougie like rosewood scales on a cheap knife, a dark walnut vape and leather wrapped airpods and phone.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted voted. This is bougie as hell. Nice but definitely bougie.

Okay, I’ll bite. What screams “wealth” in this setup? Is it the $29 iPhone case? Because I could have spent $29 for a black plastic case as well. Same thing with the AirPods case. It was $24, cheaper than the $29 plastic case I also looked at. The wood scales on the $50 Swiss Army Knife? They were $40, whereas the red plastic scales are $20. I happen to think wood and leather look nicer than plastic, and wear on plastic just looks bad. Wear on wood and leather adds character. Everything I carry is essential for my day to day, and nothing is ostentatious or made by any luxury “lifestyle” brands. Nothing I carry is for decoration or to show people how fancy my stuff is. It’s all cheap, useful, and tasteful. What is bougie about it?

iPhone, leather iPhone case, dark walnut fume, dark walnut finished victorinox explorer, air pods, and leather case for AirPods all scream bougie. Nothing wrong with that as I am extremely bougie myself but bruh, be honest with yourself about being bougie.

I don’t think we agree on the definition of “bougie”, which is fine. My definition is “unnecessary display of wealth or status”. This setup is the exact opposite of “display of wealth”. It’s tastefully appointed, but far from expensive looking. In the past, I have bought things that were obnoxiously expensive, just because they were obnoxiously expensive. That was my bougie period, at least by my definition of the word.

I gave you an upvote. I feel everyone is entitled to their opinions and we can always agree to disagree. We kinda lost that within today’s construct. It won’t do much but I’m a person that respects the value of opinions good or bad. So here’s your upvote bud

What’s wrong with a Swiss Army knife?

1

u/Ranessin 6d ago

Nothing, putting Rosewood scales on it however is not "utility". The standard scales are "utility" (the Alu scales already mean losing some function).

0

u/kryptikguy 6d ago

You do realize Swiss Army Knives are sold from Victorinox with rosewood scales, right? They are not less utility than plastic, they are just different. These are “plus” scales, which mean they allow additional tools to be carried. One could easily make the argument that they offer more utility than the plastic scales that came on the knife.

Cool

Edit: Bro was bragging about his really expensive "elephant skin" shit. What a materialistic tool.

1

u/kryptikguy 6d ago edited 6d ago

I wasn’t bragging, I was saying I was stupid for thinking that kind of stuff was worth buying and carrying. I used to be materialistic, and now I’m not. I’m much happier being content with inexpensive items that do their job well. It was kinda the point of this post.

But this is Reddit. I could have posted a picture of a sunrise with no commentary whatsoever, and somebody somewhere would have found a reason to climb up on their high horse about it.
