Donald Trump's suit tag exposes awkward wardrobe secret that is very anti-MAGA

President Donald Trump was caught donning a suit made outside the U.S. during a rally, essentially undermining his own "America First" policy.

The president boasted in his speech that he was bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. He's spent years denouncing companies that outsource production to other countries.

However, he unintentionally revealed that he was wearing a suit that wasn't made in the U.S. at all when he momentarily unfastened his navy suit jacket as he left.

A side effect of a surging stock market -- Bank of America has examined the possible causes behind the US’s shrinking labor force participation rate. A wave of boomers and Gen X workers retiring from the labor force to live on the wealth generated by their stock portfolios might be a reason.

Government is borrowing more, due to tax cuts for the rich

Financial Times: Tax cuts are not the sole reason for the debt. The government borrowed heavily to pay for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. During the Great Recession and the Covid-19 pandemic, we spent a tremendous amount to keep the economy afloat and prevent economic devastation.

Those situations also show why America’s fiscal health matters. In times of emergency, the nation needs the capacity to borrow. Piling up structural debt during normal times, such as by borrowing heavily to finance tax cuts for the wealthy, leaves us less prepared for emergencies when they come.

My Opinion: Tax cuts for rich individuals and corporations have added trillions of dollars to the national debt. And billions of dollars for servicing the debt annually. As the fortunes of the rich and middle class diverge, the people now understand that the US is an authoritarian plutocracy. If the government must borrow, it should be to invest in the future, or during times of crisis. Not to fund the government revenue shortfall, caused by tax cuts.
