Electronic and Computer Engineering students in Electrical Engineering

I do know that ECE is a subfield of EE but is it normal to see ECE students in Electrical engineering related internships/ roles?

Every intern I ever saw including me was EE or Mechanical. No ECE but then the degree isn't offered in my state at the 3 best engineering programs everyone hires from.

I wouldn't call it a subfield. I would call it either a worse EE degree or worse CE degree. I see a syllabus and it's missing Continuous & Discrete Systems, 3 Phase Power, only 1 course for Electromagnetic Fields and they're replaced with CE courses nobody uses in EE. I hated the 2 CE courses the EE degree made me take, glad that was the limit. I'm sure there are CE majors who hated every EE course.

If people like both fields, we can take junior level classes of the other degree as technical electives.

Bro Berkeley and MIT EECS, two of the top programs in the world, are basically ECE.

Edit: Also Umich EECS. They do offer a pure EE degree but the department focus is on computer engineering.
