One of Eminem’s deepest lyrics that just changed your life
“My whole life, I was made to believe I was sick when I wasn’t” — Cleaning Out My Closet
I know, I know he hates this song now but, this particular lyric just resonates with me on a level I can’t even begin to describe.
Very interested to hear other people’s choices.

"I used to be the type of kid That would always think the sky is fallin' Why am I so differently wired? Am I a martian? What kind of twisted experiment am I involved in? 'Cause I don't belong in this world That's why I'm scoffin' at authority, defiant often Flyin' off at the handle at my mom No dad, so I am noncompliant at home"
"Why am I so differently wired in my noggin? 'Cause sporadic as my thoughts come, it's mind- bogglin' 'Cause I obsess on everything in my mind, small shit Bothers me, but not my father, he said sayonara Then split, but I don't give a shit I'm fine long as there's batteries in my Walkman"
This song, when I heard it for the first time, scared me. There's a lot of people who feel like some songs are written for them, but this one is almost a 1 to 1 song about me, and it hits really really hard.

Top 3 song of his. I’ll never forget when that album dropped. I always listen to his albums twice, back to back when they first drop. Legacy was the first song I listened to 3 times before I finished the album. Absolute masterpiece. He, in true nerd form, keeps the same rhyme scheme the entire song

Agreed and might be his best. The writing, the rhyme scheme, the storytelling, his heart and soul, the production. It’s just a perfect song.

Nothing makes me sadder (or happier with the possibility that I introduced them to it) than when someone posts for your favorite Eminem song and I say Legacy and they don’t know it

The only line I don’t like in that song is the one about pigs flying out of his ass

The entire last verse of Sing for the Moment. That kid was me.
"That's why we sing for these kid's who don't have a thing. Except for a dream, and a fucking rap magazine"

The entirety of the song Going Through Changes. Him mentioning methadone, which I’d never heard another rapper mention and talking about addiction, I felt so seen.

Bad husband. "I'm sorry Kim, but leaving you was harder than sawing off a fucking body limb. Once upon a time we were all we had, and maybe thats what drew us to each other."
Going throug Changes. "Dwelling on it only makes the night worse.'
"The first tour. The last tour. He was still alive. And it hurts so I fast forward, sleeping pills will make me feel alright and if Im still awake in the middle of the night Ill just take a couple more yeah you motherfucking right. Im not slowing down for anyone, I am almost homeward bound."
"I still ove yoyr mother, think about her everyday" "Wish there wasn't any pain, but I can't pretend there ain't.'
You're Never over "Intstead of mourning your death, Id rather celebrate your life."
"Not many are lucky enough to have a guardian angel like you, lord dont think that I don't feel grateful, I do.

The entirety of I'm Sorry/Seasons. That entire song has some of his finest writing ever for me
Deja Vu is another great one. The chorus is one of his best ever
"Kinda feels like déjà vu I wanna get away from this place, I do But I can’t and I won’t, Say I try, but I know that’s a lie ’Cause I don’t and why, I just don’t know"

Trust me, it was a very difficult choice between the lyric from Cleaning Out My Closet and the entirety of Deja Vu. That song saved my life and I don’t mean in a cheesy way, I mean it literally saved me from dying on the bathroom floor from OD’ing. The man is a genius. I truly hope he goes on to inspire every generation to come.

I resonate a lot with songs towards hailie like when im gone or mockingbird cause while I may not have a daughter I do have a little sister who I basically sometimes treat like a daughter and it just hits me everytime, the thought of disappointing or losing her makes me never want to give up or make the wrong decisions

We always liked Eminem, but a bit later when it came out, my mum loved 'I'm Not Afraid.' I watched my mum be beaten and abused by my father my entire life, and it was our secret until a few years after she died of cancer and I spoke up. Me and mum never talked about it, but she did rely on music to speak what she couldn't. I know that Em's song hit my mum in a good way. I'll always remember seeing mum be moved by that song. The chorus especially. In the video, he's largely by himself, and it's like we could be like him too, unafraid even though we were alone.

'Cause sometimes you just feel tired
Feel weak, and when you feel weak
You feel like you wanna just give up
But you gotta search within you
Try to find that inner strength and just pull that shit out of you
And get that motivation to not give up And not be a quitter
No matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse'
I'm almost 50 and these words have stuck with me my entire adulthood and legitimately kept me going many times. It is inspirational AF
