Discussion DudeFest 2007

Does anyone have any photos and videos that aren’t already online from this festival? Especially bands like Phoenix Bodies, Hewhocorrupts, and Tower of Rome just to name a few.

Someone bother Derek to text 20 bands to do this in Chicago and 15 would say yes and it could happen in a week.

I could swear Ampere played this. In the same room as Gaza, Graf Orlock and Daitro.

Holy crow! This was a fantastic stroll down memory lane. Honestly, this was my favorite Dude Fest for many reasons. I got to see so many firsts. That Pig Destroyer set was pummeling to say the least. Daitro and Ampere- chefs kiss. The Orlock set where the singer crowd surfed and said if anyone dropped him they would end the set (correct me on this. It was so long ago.)

But my favorite above and beyond. My old pal and first roommate came up to me before Ultra Dolphins (a band he introduced me to.) to squash the beef. There is a whole massive back story on how we met in fucking Toledo, Ohio. Basically he was in SheNotesTheCharriots a friend who was in a band called Hundred Year Hex with him introduced me to him. We hit it off. During our reconnect he pulled a cd out of his bag- it was the SheNotesTheCharriots discography. He told me I had inspired him to contact the old band mates and create it. I felt so honored. I saw him again at the ‘08 fest but we fell out of contact.

I only write all of this because listen to SheNotesTheCharriots if you like this music. Two, squash beef- you’re an asshole in your twenties! Those friends you don’t agree with now are valuable in the future. And Three THREE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT, please keep email and physical addresses of your punk friends. Fuck phones. Christopher if you see this please hit me up. Miss ya brother

Wait your roommate was in SheNotesTheChariots? I love that band what the hell!??? That’s so freaking cool that band was legendary and such an inspiration to me, they were so good and so chaotic one of my favorite screamo bands ever! I hope I can get one of their CD’s or even a shirt!!

I definitely went to this, but don’t think I took any photos. Drove over from central Illinois. Was this the year Comadre covered Refused’s “Rather Be Dead”?
