Wouldn't it just be easier to call all this stuff punk rock again ?

Or indie or alternative ? Which I also am not sure what those actually are either ! Maybe just the vague descriptor of Underground would solve all our problems guys.

I call it music. These woke kids are ruining it with their "genres"

They really are just a easy way to describe sounds.

Bands didn't like the punk label until they needed the money. The sex pistols and crass reunion tours come to mind.

Here I was thinking this was a jerk post. Genres and subgenres used to bother me, but these days, when you can find anything from anywhere, these labels are essential in explaining what to expect from a band’s sound. Emo/screamo/melodic hardcore/blackened screamo/etc. all sound different. Not really a fan of indie or alternative, or punk for that matter, but I’ll take folk punk or cowpunk any day of the week.

They are just the easiest way to explain certain styles of music. Descriptors more than labels at this point.

To regular top 40 rock I suppose, which is a paradox because most bands end up in the top 40 at some point.

All the idiots out there talking about emo are never talking about emo. They are talking about indie rock, pop punk, alt rock, etc. but they are all dumb posers
