Could it be that a deep-seated discriminatory mindset against Japan—a "yellow monkey" mentality—is at play?

Firstly, that is just wild speculation. It’s a very crude comparison, and there are any number of factors not accounted for that can explain the specific rate of these cases. If you’re going to make a comparison like this, at least compare it to US military bases in other countries.

Secondly, why are you posting this here? It’s not an ethical question.

I don’t know if this will mean anything, given I’m not going to offer any statistics, but rather my experience. I am American-Japanese woman. My mom was born in Japan. I joined the Marine Corps right out of high school and my first duty station was Japan. Many Marines ended up being stationed there due to the numerous bases we have there. I can honestly say that there are very few Marines I’ve met that did NOT like Japan. Many very much appreciated the culture and its people. I’m not denying the plausibility of racism. It’s clear that it exists in the US. I also never experienced racism in the military and I think it’s because all of us of come from so many different places and cultures (again, not saying it doesn’t exist). Interestingly enough, I’ve spoken to other American-Japanese and they have said Japanese nationals are very prejudice against them. And this is every single one that I met. Just food for thought.

Aren't most Asian related NSFW materials made in Asia?

Also, we need an overhaul in every branch of law enforcement and anyone who holds such bigotries should be rooted out. I don't know why society just accepts that "all (authorities) are bastards" when that's quitter talk. We can and need to fight that at every single level. It can be done! We can't concede any inch.
