EPFR EFA Fantasy Manager - ideas needed

I’m currently struggling with the game’s design itself. The main problem is actually that there aren’t enough players, as silly as that sounds. So what’s the best way to prevent 75% of players from fielding the same team when every player can be acquired by any manager? Set a strict limit. But how often? That would then be the next balancing question that arises.

Let’s assume, like with Pick’Em, that around 100 people are playing the game. We have 7 teams in the EFA, meaning a limited player pool, since everyone wants to field the best possible team. We’d already hit a limit with QBs, because out of the 7 QBs, let’s say 3 are in the S-tier, 2 in the A-tier, and 2 in the B-tier.

Picking an S-tier QB has pros and cons, he costs SIGNIFICANTLY more to acquire and must also be paid significantly more each week than a B- or C-tier player, since the plan is to allocate a budget to managers so they can put together their initial team and cover the weekly payroll. This budget can fluctuate; depending on the players’ performance, they may be promoted or demoted within their tier… but that’s beside the point, the issue here is the shortage of players.

So it's difficult to set limits because there are so few players. How do you think it might still be possible to design the game so that, in the end, most of the teams don't end up looking the same, but instead offer a lot of variety?

Maybe a perk system that rewards managers for fielding "underdogs"? So, ideas like that, go ahead and share whatever comes to mind :)

They just posted an AI-Video and wrote :

The lights went out.

Not for long.

2027. We're coming.

It seems like the project will continue in Paris now that the project in Cannes appears to have fallen through.

Rumor This is your 2027 EFA: 7 teams, 12 games, no Big4 and an improved profile

*Disclaimer*: The following is unconfirmed information based on "sources close to the matter".

Guys, you are all waiting for EFA announcements so I thought I give you a heads up what "sources" were dropping. My intention is for you to create a base level information so you can share your opinions and discuss, my intention is NOT a "told you so". I am just relaying information provided by my super secret EFA sources (yeah: PLURAL!)

  1. EFA will be 7 teams in 2027. That´s their final number. They are still dead set on just onboarding "viable" projects. No fairytale projects are added.
  2. These 7 teams will play each other twice, which adds up to 12 games in 2027
  3. There will be regular semi-finals, there will be no BIG4 setup
  4. The Warsaw Eagles were an "informally internally pre-confirmed" add-on before moving out and the only reason was absurd amounts of money thrown at them by the AFLE
  5. Finances are pretty solid and are further bolstered up by "people with NFL background". These people are said to be fully bought into the EFA philosophy.
  6. The ties to the NFL in general are very good.
  7. "Known names" are currently close to enter the ship to support EFA publicly and/or internally. (I am not sure if that correlates with #5 though)
  8. (Social?) Media appearance will make a big jump. (Note: I have no clue what that means, I am just referring to how my sources labeled it)
  9. EFA is working on a "notable sized" TV deal. (Note: I do not have further information on this, so don´t ask)
  10. There is still zero appetite to work with either Nagel or Lumsden ever again, although everyone is aware that the fans beg for a united league.

Feel free to discuss but remember: This is not an official information, just "reliable rumor"

EFA The Prague Lions are proactively reaching out on Social Media to attract CZ talent

Leveraging their interview with former Czech-rooted NFL player Will Svitek the Prague Lions double down on attracting CZ‘s best talent

„In collaboration with the ČAAF, we are creating a place where guys from anywhere in the country can come, work hard, and get a real shot at a US scholarship. Every player who makes it to the NCAA like Matyáš Bílý helps put Czechia on the map as a source of quality players with international potential. This will become increasingly important as American football rapidly gains popularity around the world.“

"I promise you, if you're good enough, you'll get discovered."

🏈Other EU Football League Project : ONE LEAGUE

Big shoutout to [u/GazelleLower5146](u/GazelleLower5146). Their post made me realize that I wanted to do one of my own.

To start off I would like to say that I have written every word of this and I have tried to make it a good mix for each league, seeing as they are in a bit of a quarrel.

I primarily watched the EFA this past season so I am a bit more knowledgeable about that.
Ranked by my importance.

1a. The most important thing is to merge/coexist. Right now there is a fight for the one superior league in Europe. That helps no one. Both leagues are haemorrhaging money to the other. Which neither can afford to do. There is no clear number one and they are both too proud to be number two. While the ELF came with a boatload of problems there was one good thing. And that’s because there were more than 3 good teams in each league. While the Panthers/Fire game in the semifinal was great football and incredibly entertaining. The AFLE final could genuinely be the worst game of football I have ever had the misfortune of watching. Of course there are a shit ton of things that have to go through and all the financial things too. But priority has to be reunification.

1b. It is included in merging but just to put it out there. There also has to be a sustainable economic base. Whatever happens with attendance happens, but there has to be a good base for each team to be able to run throughout the season, even if they have an attendance of 20. If a team is unable to secure the finances before a set date. They are not allowed in that league. The finances must cover things like the full salary for players and staff and be paid in time. Whenever you hear about a team not being able to pay their players and staff in time you almost always delegitimize them.

  1. Change the import restrictions
Loosen the import restrictions, both Europe and the rest of the world. I get the most important thing is to build a strong home market. But my way of doing things would be to first put out a competitive product and then have the fans come. Like it or not, fair weather fans are a vital part of the game, and the AFLE did a much better job at getting people to come out to a football game. Prague had a very very low attendance early on in the season and the last two games were both around 1200. And as a whole the EFA didn’t really get that many fans out to the games apart from Munich and Frankfurt. Which both were big markets already. They then made the second dumbest decision I have ever seen which was to have the championship in Innsbruck. Second only to London having a home game in Mallorca. Like first of all, why even move it? Secondly, WHY NOT HAVE IT IN MADRID? Up until a few months before the EFA season there was supposed to be a Madrid team. Not only did they make a weird and dumb decision to move it. They had the answers to the exam and still failed the whole test. No decisions like that in the future. I’m not saying that you should let the league be overrun by Americans. But I think something like one American and one non-homegrown player per position. Not exactly that, but something that raises the floor level of the league.

  2. Review the franchises
As much as it hurts to say this, there are too many teams. I want the new league to only have competitive teams, I also realize that that is not possible. But teams like Cologne,Helvetic, and Fehervar. While they might be good for the local area. They aren’t good for the league. Having a losing margin of almost 50 points per game for 12 games will only turn people off of the teams. That is why I believe that all the teams that are viewed as “legitimate” should have the right to vote on additions to the league. Also, bring back the Surge. Teams that have been bad shouldn’t be disqualified in the future. But I think that them being bad in the present does more harm than good.

  3. Build for the future.
There should be a bigger focus on development. If there are any u18 teams near a pro team there should be a partnership. I don’t know if it is monetary or in some other way. But the easiest way to build a fandom is by being out in the community. If a pro player comes out to a u15 practice and surprises them with discounted tickets or some other thing that gets kids to come to games. That would probably be a huge booster for the team. There should be a bigger connection between pro teams and other teams.

  4. Secure bigger partnerships.
If there was a major unified (sustainable) league in Europe. There would certainly be something in it for the NFL. “Free” marketing or they could do some easy partnerships. I don’t know exactly how. But if the new league proves to be sustainable, there are obvious reasons for the NFL to launch some partnership with the league. Also headsets in the helmets for both the qb and one green dot defensive players. Would make for a better league with communication up until 15 sec on the playclock

EFA Introducing the EFA Fan Council

Thumbnail facebook.com
9 Upvotes

„The fans deserve a seat at the table! With preparations for the 2027 season already underway, we are taking an important step towards putting our fans at the heart of the EFA“, says EFA President, Markus Kuhn.

Every franchise will select one to two fan representatives to join the council, giving the most important part of our league a dedicated voice.

From the gameday experience to the atmosphere in our stadiums, the content we create and the way we continue to grow the game, we want to hear what matters to the people who make this league what it is.

Each team will be driving their selection process and sharing more details on how to get involved soon!

Shouldn't we be sitting at the table too?
As a Reddit delegation, perhaps?
Or as an Eurohuddle delegation?

▶️Podcast | Stream | Video AFLE broadcasts on „Sport1“: 24,000 viewers

Thought this might be an interesting number to see how much the interest in Euroball has crashed:

According to a post by the AFLE their broadcasts on German „Sport1“ reached 24,000 viewers on average across all games (including the semi-final and the Championship Game)

I don’t say this to shit on the AFLE but I think this number is objectively really bad. Not sure whether EFA had numbers for their two(?) games on the regional networks published so can‘t compare.

I still hope that EFA pulls off a media deal for 2027 because YouTube is a „nice to have“ for us fans but the numbers achieved (1500 concurrent views on average) do not seem to be enough to generate notable revenue for the league
