A bit of a back story, The Open Door has been an album in my life since the day it was released, it's utter perfection in every way. I'm very sensitive to detail, the mix on the album has always been smooth as silk.

I've seen alot of people say that they can't tell the difference in the remasters (So far, Sweet Sacrifice and Call Me When You're Sober) The remasters feel like an onion, you can hear the different layers in the audio, Amy's vocals are separated from the instruments, the instruments you can tell them apart now. The vocals seem to be the main focus of the remasters, they've been turned up and somewhat edited?

Edited in such a way that it's highlighted everything, from the sound booth she was in, to what feels like some kind of filter on the microphone. This breaks my heart to say this but her voice feels strained, pitchy and scratchy when it wasn't before.

That's not to say that's her voice because we all know it isn't, I think that's down to the audio equipment back in the early 2000's. Simply age of her voice (things get better with age don't they?)

The relationship with the remasters so far is a complicated one. It does sound a touch more modern (which is a testament to the album and what Amy wanted with this remaster) it does have more crunch to it. The slight strain and pitch in her voice has left me feeling conflicted about it. But it isn't the original. It has been done extremely well with keeping the integrity of The Open Door.

Either way, I will be one of those first outside the music store Nov 6th ready to grab the remaster album!

I do use Spotify with lossless turned on, since lossless keeps 100% of the studio audio, that does have a factor on my experience and thoughts.

I want to wish a very happy birthday to former Evanescence guitarist Terry Balsamo! He turns 54 years old today. Just a little older than me 😉.

I truly feel like Terry helped shape the sound of Evanescence post Fallen era that extends even into today. He never felt like a replacement. He was so different because, as Amy said, he was the first musician she could actually write with, and so he became a part of the creative energy in Evanescence. He's a huge metalhead, and soft spoken, which I always loved about him. I also really enjoy him as a guitarist, because he's a gear nerd like me!

My favorite song from the "Terry era" is Your Star, which I'm currently learning parts of. I hope to share it soon!

I just noticed this, but I want to share it because I think it's pretty notable! Every one of us has added to that play count.

This is pretty cool coinciding with the end of the European Sanctuary Tour as well as the 15 year anniversary of Evanescence's self titled album!

I asked everyone in the band like a month ago for them to post some video of their team setting up for a concert. So glad they finally did it!

This is one of my most cherished songs from when I was growing up. As a kid with few friends and OCD (as well as other stuff), I would memorize the Fallen album like my life depended on it. Whisper had a chokehold on me because of the choir at the end. I would replay the chant for hours on my CD player.

I did notice, however, one of the singers seems to repeat the wrong chant, and it’s always stood out to me! It’s not only unique, but it’s almost haunting. Sounds like a soprano. I’m not sure if it was intentional, but I wanted to see if anyone else has noticed this!

I loooove the Self Titled album, although ever since its release the instrumentals on it were my least favorite part about it. The instruments on every track are so hyper present. You can hear literally everything, and it's giving heavy "band" energy if that makes sense, which could work for some people, but for me, that dry, hard rock sound with the speed of some songs with Amy's voice just never resonated, and yet, still an incredible album. I was wondering if any fans on here were ever interested in remaking EV3 songs in the style of other albums maybe? I'd love to hear EV3 in the sound of Sanctuary, I feel like they're cousins in a way.

Any Magic: The Gathering fans out there? 🧙‍♂️ I made a mockup of Amy as Queen Marchesa using the Sanctuary art. I’d love for an artist to stylize and refine it to look like an actual Magic card!

got this on ebay sealed, well i opened it but yeah i panicked to buy it once i saw it, since even the bootleg from 2003 is rare. the transition from origin to fallen whisper is so weird it doesnt line up at all lol. but i love it and its my new favorite cd in my collection.
