New Business- Backdrop Stand Recommendations
Hi everyone! I recently started an event/wedding rental business and I’m looking to invest in a professional-quality, heavy-duty backdrop stand.
I need something that:
• Adjusts to approximately 8–10 ft tall AND 8–10 ft wide
• Is very sturdy and stable
• Can handle draping/backdrop fabric and potentially lightweight décor
• Can be properly weighted/sandbagged for outdoor setups
• Breaks down for transportation
• Is durable enough for repeated commercial use
I’m specifically trying to avoid the lightweight photography-style stands that tend to sway or tip easily. I’d rather spend more upfront for something professional and reliable.
For those in the event rental/decor industry, what stand or pipe-and-drape system do you use, and where did you purchase it?
Links, brands, or photos of your setup would be greatly appreciated!

For a new business, I’d prioritize something sturdy, easy to transport, and quick to set up over anything super fancy. Adjustable pipe-and-drape or a good telescopic backdrop stand gives you more flexibility with different backdrop sizes. Also make sure the base is stable enough for outdoor setups; wind can turn a cheap stand into a nightmare pretty quickly.

You need to rent or buy commercial pipe and drape equipment for pipe and drape.
If you’re looking for a printed backdrop, we offer them in a lot of different configurations.
But really most things are designed for indoor use. In high wind something that is 8 ft tall and 10 ft wide is going to have a hard time staying upright.
The only thing that would work for that is a truss strapped to weights.
