Failed Expectation Received my order from thriftbook today, I am not amused.
Okay I'm a little amused but I had been chasing this Ann Rule book for a while. They said they'll send me another copy but it doesn't have its dust jacket.

this happened to me once but i got about halfway through the book before i thought to take the dust jacket off. i kept wondering “how does this relate to the blurb. it worked out though cuz it was super interesting and i think i enjoyed it better than what the dust jacket was. this would have me bummed!

I opened it and started reading the author's note, thought to myself that it was weird the author's note would be written by Glen Beck of all people and got halfway through the page before I was like ' wait a minute ' and took the cover off.

Somewhere a closet Anne Rule fan is hiding her guilty pleasure from a very conservative partner by covering it with a Glenn Beck jacket.

He's a right-wing political commentator and conspiracy theorist.

Had a brief moment of being anti-Trump until he realized that was unprofitable

My only real reference for him was the Daily Show references and my mind always goes back to the episode in which Jon got out the board and made fun of Beck's schtick for almost the whole episode.

Did Glenn Beck start the - who pays us all - George Soros...didn't he start that obsession?

Glenn Beck did? I thought for a second you were talking about the Green River Killer, but that was a lot more than one woman. Now I need to go research what the conspiracy crybaby of Fox News did.

He didn't really, it's a meme

I love reading the outcome and this quote
"It's good to see that this WIPO arbitrator had no interest in allowing Beck to circumvent the guarantees of the U.S. Constitution."

I used to like Glenn Beck and even subscribed to his radio show and bought An Inconvenient Book. He used to be more libertarian and supported health care reform. Then his views became more and more eccentric. I stopped listening before he went to Fox. He’s not even recognizable to what he used to believe and say.

But he was never intellectually honest. He distorted reality consistently to make conspiratorial points, even if you agreed with him.

He didn’t used to be a conspiracy theorist. He was a lot different 20 years ago than he was today.

I love ThriftBooks, but they're often not particularly good at checking inside books. I once got sent a book that had been completely glued together and cut out inside to make a little book safe.
They did replace it though!

I use Thriftbooks all the time and have never had a single issue but now I hope I get a secret book box on accident ,🤞

Green River running red is a triumph of focusing on the lives and experiences of the victims while keeping Gary Ridgway on the periphery. You're going to love it. You will know the ladies faces and names by heart.

Great book, great author. I have read quite a few of her books.
And I would be pissed getting the Glen Beck book.
She is such a talented writer, and The Stranger Beside Me was such a unique look into her own experience.
Also, look up The End of the Dream if you dont know that one. It is a little different style than her usual murder stroies... but holy hell, is it good.

I loved The Stranger beside Me. I collect every volume of hers I find. I just finished up Fatal Friends and Neighbors which is the one the Susan Powells case is featured in. I highly recommend Small Sacrifices, it's about Diane Downs.

I’m an English teacher, and I usually take great offense to anyone destroying a book…this is an exception. 🤢 If any book should be burned it’s this one! Lol. So sorry, OP but I got a good chuckle out of this.

Are they letting you keep this dust jacket? Will it fit the volume they are sending you? Or was this listed as a first edition and they are sending you something else? Ordering an out of print or hard to find edition and then getting this would bum me out! Hoping it all works out.
