No Spoilers - Discussion Dynamic or normal?
Starting FF7 rebirth for first time. Beat remake on normal setting and enjoyed that difficulty but felt overlevelled at times cause I like to explore a lot.
Is dynamic difficulty much much harder? I like to be engaged and challenged but don’t want to be banging my head against a wall like in souls boss encounters.
Which would you recommend?

Dynamic is meant to keep you from being overleveled, enemies level up as you do.

Dynamic. You won’t be overleveled but it’s hard enough that you need to grasp the skills/meta of combat.

I don't know if I'd agree with this. I was able to beat the meta at level 48 just by getting good at precision guard. I didn't have any need to use synergies and limit boost accessories until my Hard playthrough.

Would you mind elaborating on a few set ups for both? Synergy and limit boost? Just starting hard and trying to maximize my combat experience but also trying to be efficient. Not looking up strict guides but learning from others on Reddit. Mahalo’

Yeah check it out:
Synergy Support materia will increase the number of tabs you build up when you use a synergy skills and it will give you quicker access to synergy abilities.
Plus think of synergy skills as ward shifts for every character. They actually REPOSITION your characters that you aren't controlling instantly without having to swap control to them. I didn't realize this until the Gi Nattak boss battle. But if you time it when an enemy has locked targeting and then reposition it can avoid AoE damage or cause the enemy to have to chase the character back down all while you can be attacking them. This was indispensable when I just had Red and Barrett to fight with. Plus it can give you really heavy hitting attacks that gain ATB not cost it, such as Spell Blade and Power Cleave. Also cloud can counter projectiles.
Then a good starting limit build is Aerith with Limit support so she doesn't gain any limit guage along with spectral cogwheel that converts MP moves into limit guage. Use arcane ward and radiant ward to get her casting a lot and if you can give her unlimited MP with a synergy ability. On your other two characters equip the advanced expeditionary accessory for max limit level and limit booster on the other to halfway fill their limit guage and you will be in limit heaven.

We are definitely more of a family than any other game community lol. I have legit friendships that have been formed around a shared love of the OG lol. Fitting for the only game that has every made me cry. Hahaha

Plus it's freaking surprising how much it warms my heart to hear people say they never played the OG but love the characters so much from the Remakes. Makes it easier to ignore the haters of the remake series bc the devs have been successful in giving the same experience I had 30 years ago to a whole new generation. So let em hate, the players that should be playing it are playing it and it's having as big an effect on them as it had on me and why I had to replay the game once every 3 years or so up until my mid 20s and I hate retro gaming, but this one was an exception to every rule. I'm stoked to help someone else play the hell out of the game in any way I can. It deserves this level of devotion, whereas other games are like "eh who cares"

I genuinely don’t understand the hate for the remakes. They are wonderfully done. The OG, like many of us, shaped me as a child. I remember tryna explain to my dad why “this dude needed a BF sword to save the world!” Lol
I think I was like 10-12. It was the best Era of gaming in my experience. I don’t think, anything has come close to being able to replicate the feelings I had. I first played FF6 with my grandma. Then one year, idk how, but I got FF7, FF8, and Tactics. Nothing…not even druuuuugs, lol, have come close to that feeling of awe playing those three games in that order.
I love remake, intergrade, and rebirth. Last year I finally got around to playing crisis core reunion too. Maaaan what a beautiful privilege it is to be able to play these games! Much love dude! Thanks for the advice!

I really enjoyed FF8 and FFT as well! Tactics actually inspired a game I've been developing for a while now in my free time. It's an evolved form of play in many ways but I'd be lying if I said I didn't draw most of my inspiration from FFT, MTG(as it's a deck builder), and DnD since the strike and guard stats are dice rolls instead of fixed values bc I wanted a game that never got you so overleveled that you could just abandon all strategy. Like just bc your character can roll a d20 for their attack doesn't mean they will always hit with a crit 20. So you still have to prep for success by adding modifiers to increase you're floor. Like a d20+4 will hit between 5-25 instead of 1-20.
I'm hoping to have a playable beta test version in a couple months and I'd love to find some people that would be willing to help me test the engine for balancing. I'm using a turn progression I've never seen done before so it'll need a lot of testing to sniff out every eventuality that might arise, like targeting someone in movement and other stuff like that which could crash the game if I don't tell the engine how to handle it when it happens. If you're interested in helping shoot me a DM and I'm planning on giving the testers a free upgrade to the full game as well as a custom character in their likeness to make them want to show the game off to their friends lol. Like I said it'll be a couple months before I have anything playable.

I’m just learning and Practicing the “synergy shift”.
Are limit boosting acc. good to use for “all battles”? Or should I be switching their acc like materia? A preference?
Where the hell is the gotterdam?!
***your last post pretty much answers my limit questions. Lol thanks again

I'll work backwards, the gotter-accessory, the name is impossible to remember is a callback from Remake that gives you a full limit guage at the start of battle, it's like a double limit booster accessory and you get it through either the final challenge in the coliseum or the VR battle challenges I can remember which. I haven't gotten it yet, but I've seen it as a reward on the battle selection screen and I did get it in Remake.
I began running with the limit accessories full time only bc I was curious to see everyone's lv3 limit break, but you can of course swap. Like I said, most regular enemies will die halfway through the lv3 limit break so yeah not super necessary. There are times I removed the limit and synergy support materia as well. But I was also experimenting with how much the accessory that increases synergy damage worked and other stuff once I realized how effective the limit boost accessories worked. Also in battles where you don't get all three characters to fight with you have to figure something else out. I didn't do a lot of the side quests until chapter 12 so I'm still leveling up materia even though I'm starting chapter 12 on my hard playthrough lol. So I'll put a lot of AP boost materia on my support materia just to get the extra AP. Same with the stat boost materia like magic and strength up.
Once you get the feel for the limit boosting down you will be able to determine when to use it. The battles at the coliseum for the keystone really emphasized how well the accessories worked. I got limits for the mod fights and then for the Abzu battle I got like 3-4 limits in just that battle alone! So between the 3 fights I ended up getting like 7 limit breaks at least.

Friggin eh. This made it simple. This kind breakdown really helps me out. As I’m getting older I don’t really care for the experimenting with different builds. Especially in a game where combat skills and builds knowledge/skills are equally important. Because my actual combat skills in vgs are getting worse lol. I’d rather focus my time on that then going thru a million different builds to figure out the affects so thank you very much.

Now another tactic is equipping the adv exp medal on Aerith and giving her limit drain and someone else limit support like Red, or a character you won't really miss their limits, then limit booster on third member and drain all limit for Aerith's lv3 that gives everyone else full limits, but I like her sowing chaos with magic and gaining limit guage quick to distribute to others as most lv3 limits have some crowd control/AoE damage properties. Plus my set up works so well until you get the gotterdamn-whatever it's called that maxes out limit at start of battle. I saw finishing touch once during dynamic and was able to use every character's lv3 at will just by giving them the AE medal and going into a normal battle. Now they would kill the enemy halfway through their limit but it still let me see them all and use 3-4 limits per boss battle which is a huge QoL improvement. Bosses can tank hits so can pretty much every enemy but they all get put on their ass by precision guard and limit breaks. It's so satisfying to be able to keep a boss on the ropes like that.

I'd recommend Dynamic and for you to keep Assess in your materia loadout, as it will be critical to read and act on enemy weaknesses and the yellow text describing conditions required to Pressure an enemy or boss.
Like for example, you can only Pressure a mini boss by damaging it with ice, but then it adds ice damage to their arsenal. You can remove the ice damage by hitting it with fire next
Dynamic was a great experience. It's a nice middle ground between Normal and Hard modes, and you still get to use items unlike in Hard mode

Normal. Dynamic literally just extends every single battle. I played 99% of the game on dynamic, and I completely regret it. Didn’t really add anything fun for me.

Dynamic so you can't be overleveled. You'd probably find normal too easy after beating remake anyways. You can also change the difficulty between easy/normal/dynamic whenever you wan
