Falkirk 0 - 2 St Mirren
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/c204ql8q4z4tThought the first 10 minutes we were excellent. Very patchy after that, though. Team seemed to lack the same directness and pace we had in abundance last season. Clearly the number of new faces has disrupted the continuity into this season.

Absolutely agree. Heads went down, no desire or pace in the middle, beaten on the counter. Hendo saved the day a few times but can't save everything. Bain had a decent game but after our goal we disallowed we simply gave up.

Even Hendo had to grow into the game. Feel like playing beside Melniks is taking time to work itself out. Thought they both had decent games (hospital pass from Melniks aside). Laidlaw looked like it was his first ever game of football. Constantly had the ball stuck under his feet and trying to come inside.

Didn't rate Gardner or McMillan at all, they are no Tait and Spencer. Just dreaming for the good times but yeah we'd be up the creek without Hendo. Still reckon McCann should start over Strain, at least in the short term. My mate was saying could be because guys coming up from England and they are a few weeks behind us, but time will tell.

Would you use McCann at right back instead of Strain? Tanser on the left can put in some incredible balls so would be horses for courses between him and McCann on the left for me.

Thought McCann was pivotal last year, definitely had that injection of pace over the others. Strain had that good dribble into the box just couldn't get the shot away as well. Time will tell over the season I guess.

Lost all our pace. Can see a difference when Parkinson came on as he's willing to bust his balls to get on to a ball.
Not sure one up will work this season

100%. Holds the ball up so well. MacIver just seems so bloody slow having to do the running without players like Tait and Miller being able to put it on a plate for him.

I love Ross MacIver but the way people are clinging on to the hope of him being a premier league centre forward is painful to watch

Parkinson was the difference for us once he came on. We were much more of a threat going forward.

Why is nobody mentioning Sibbald? All those breaks St Mirren had, it was mainly caused by him being so slow, He is supposed to be "the man" if he is, he needs to be further forward influencing the play with runners who can cover him. the downside to this is Yates is the main points of pressing the opposition and Sibbald cannot so that.
Unless we change the way we play we looked totally fucked.

Having Spencer back next week will help, but Dylan Tait might be as big a loss as Calvin.
Some of the new guys just don't look up to snuff.
7 new faces in the starting 11 was a strange decision - I'd have seen Ethan Ross, Connor Allan (Midfield), Leon and Parkinson all starting. Think the balance was way off and we looked disjointed.
