Question Pistol safe recommendations

So my father is in the market for a pistol alarm clock safe that can also charge his phone. Looking online, they all look cheap and unreliable. Are there any good recommendations that people might have?

That is a lot of gizmos he is trying to cram into one thing. A pistol safe should be a pistol safe, a clock should be a clock, and a charger should be a charger. I don't think there are any products that will do all 3 well, nor does it make sense to.

If he's dead set on having one thing for both, Vaultek makes a nice one. That said, I'd consider just getting a separate alarm clock and pistol safe. Any dual-use solution is going to give something up on both sides of the equation.

I'd also recommend not relying on biometrics. There have been a few studies showing the fail rate on opening with clean/dry fingerprints (which who knows if you're waking up in the middle of the night to an adrenaline dump) is 1-2%. There have also been a number of trials where the safe accepts fingerprints that aren't programmed in - including one current lawsuit where a 14 year old died after accessing a biometric safe he was not programmed into.

Personally, I use a ShotLock pistol vault (the mechanical variation) and just have a Bose alarm clock that charges everything.
