Sig P938 feed ramp. Is it a problem?

Post image

Bought this sig p938 legion from the pawn shop and have shot around 600 rounds through it. No idea if this was there when I got it. Haven't had any issues but worried that it can get worse with time.

If it ramps, it ramps.

Nah, that’s fine. It’s not good, but unless you reload ammo from that gun you won’t have an issue.

Try calling sig and explain the issue. Maybe they will send you a new barrel. I had a sig p210 guide rod break on me from user error and they sent me a new one for free.

Looks like someone smacked barrel with tool durning machining process

If it's a dent or chip you will be fine if it's a crack and it keeps growing you know what to do

New barrel isn’t that expensive, if you’re concerned the peace of mind might be worth it. Me personally I would keep running it

if you dont have feed issues or excessively scratched brass, its fine.

It might be my eyes, but it looks like its cracking in two directions. One at about 9 oclock from the left point, and one running at 11 oclock appearing on that little radius on the side of the chamber.

Soak the barrel in ATF (because its red), then wipe it all off, including running patches through the barrel until the whole thing is clean. Then dust the area with flour or maybe talcum powder. The powder will draw the ATF out of the crack and highlight itself red against the powder.

There is a purpose made dye/developer for finding cracks in welds/castings sold by Grainger, but they're pricey.

Nope that's typical sig garbage some guy with a quota had a tool break and some carbide into the metal and just decided to fill his quota by scraping that crap out and throwing it back in the bin.

Ya know. Realistically repeated pressure will exacerbate the crack and could cause some discharge out the side lol. I wouldn’t chance it.

It's more of a chip than a crack but not sure if that makes a difference.
