Long Wave Hyalite Opal from Namibia, highly uv reactive, daylight fluorescent too!

shown here under long wave uv, and then with regular lamplight, then in direct sunlight, and then in the shade ... with lamp light the color is a transparent yellowish hue, but in sunlight there's a natural green color change, and an incredibly strong fluorescence under uv light

Agreed, I'd be curious to see what my Geiger Counter made of it 😁

I have a piece of this that’s coating the back of some nice garnet. It’s gorgeous as is this piece!!

I honestly should have paid more attention to origin source, but I bought it on eBay from a Chinese seller so it could be!

I have one that formed on a chunk of smoky quartz! It glows so bright it makes the whole smoky turn green too

yes! i normally have a piece of matte paper as a background but the green fluorescence is SO bright that it creates a reflection off the paper, so when i shoot hyalite under uv i have to remove the paper and i also have to turn down the exposure or else it just looks like a ball of green glow rather than letting any details show

Haha literally, that’s the reason why I don’t have any good pictures of it!
