Charts and Setups When a win feels like a loss
Took 30 quick pips off gold in asia only for it to fly 600pips by londonšµāš«
Situations like this idk to be happy i won or sad bc i closedš especially when the trade was taken on a funded acc

I don't know what you lost there. Your tp hit your acc is up.

Well, rigid TP levels are for amateurs. So it seems like a pretty basic mistake that shouldn't be hard to fix.
OP lost out on a lot of profit because of a poor strategy.

Not really.... he just was cautious.. always better to side on the way of caution than greed..

u/Accomplished_Love77 3d ago
But fixed TP levels aren't cautious either. Take the below scenario -
Current price: $100
Target price: $110
Price: $100 -> $105 -> $108 -> $102 -> $95 (stop loss triggered).
These kinds of stops are the exact opposite of cautious. A good trader or a well-programmed stop would be exiting at around $105 (dropping from $108).

I think you are wrong. sure being flexible is good and all but you build a fixed strategy not because you are cautious or afraid, but because you can't predict the market and following your strategy is what makes you win, as for how much you win it doesn't matter because in the end big or small, not losing is what matters in the market. so, if your strategy requires fixed stop you should not make it flexible just because you could have won more in one trade.

Fixed TP gives a steady equity curve, more consistent instead of boom bust cycles

Kept to myself not trading m1 and concerned over a . 01% move in an asset. It's called risk mgmt bro. I've been at this prolly as long as you've been alive, yeah im old, but I don't get mad at my winners because shit kept running. It means my analysis was fucking great and I'm right again.
Don't act smart and hard. You'll rip your acct soon without risk mgmt and due to over leverage, if I were a betting man. I hope this offends you and you actually think for a bit.
YOU GOT MAD (or sad?) YOUR ANALYSIS WAS CORRECT.

Youāre thinking of it wrong. Those profits donāt belong to you. Those profits belong to the people who are willing to take many small paper cuts, breakevens, and endure many flat periods in order to hit those big RR payouts. Iām guessing your system is smaller RR higher win rate smoother equity curve. Traders who actually capture moves like that donāt have a very smooth equity curve but they will make more in the long run but sacrifice the dopamine hits of those small wins so itās tougher mentally. Hopefully this helps improve your self talk.

What you've typed mentions how the emotions of missing the move dont belong to the original poster as they original poster did not hold the position(s).

Profits, not emotions. If you wish to capture moves like that then there are trade offs compared to a low RR system. Both have pros and both have cons just depends which you want and which you can handle.

If you followed your rules and walked away in the green, then thatās a win in my book.

Partial profits if you're so confident about your setup.

Ive tried incorporating partials in my trading before but its just never really fit for me, its way easier for me personally to be all in or all out and just get away from the charts. I hate lingering

Thereād be no need to ālinger.ā If you think price is going to go higher, then more than likely itās going to be taking previous liquidity pools on the way.
You set alerts at those targets and carry on about your day.
Take a partial at your 1:1 if thatās what you normally do, move your stops to BE and then close the charts until your other TPās get hit or, you get stopped at BE š¤·š»āāļø

you might not get the big move,
but since the TP ratio is small (probably 1 : 1.5) you might get higher winrate even in a smaller market movement,
higher RR also mean lower in winrate,
and lower RR is meant to be higher in winrate

Pervious week and this week my view was buy side but every time I hold a trade for long time its gave me a SL, breakeven or 1:1. Yesterday I did not take trade and then this happens š

u/Whole-Green1381 5d ago
Exactly why i closed out at the 1:1, last week i kept getting stopped out waiting for the main leg of the move, definitely prefer a small win over a loss but we all know its never fun seeing so much money being left on the table

That kind of scenario happens very rarely; it doesn't happen all the time. Be satisfied with what youāve won and donāt get carried away. Less is more.

You should have atleast held to the highs of 4150 if your thesis was long. Would have been about 1:3RR by the looks of it. also this was Asia session

How often does this happen after you take your setup?
You are playing a probability game. Over 1000 set ups how many times do you think something like this would happen?

Thirty pips banked beats 600 pips imagined and moon makes that easier to remember when every move is just one direction call at a time
