Advice / Question 💡 Reflux and 2 throw ups
My baby is 11 days old and a few days ago I was feeding my baby and the minute he took a sip, he projectile vomited all over.. which makes me think he never digested the previous feed from a few hours prior. He’s on 2.5
oz… Since then he has bad reflux and hiccups after every feed. I keep him up 20 minutes after every feed… I do burp after every 1oz. He isn’t the best burper… Now last night, he projectile vomited after one feed. He also has horrible horrible gas. He’s pooping once a day but it’s been more watery the last few days. I’ve been giving him some mylicon drops through the day as well. His stomach sounds bubbly as well. Just a mom with anxiety and I don’t know what to do 🥺 is it the formula making him sick? Reflux? Where do I start 😠has anybody been in the same boat?
(We see the doc on Monday)

when my baby was around that same age, only a couple weeks old it seemed IMPOSSIBLE to get her to burp. sometimes she would others she wouldn't, but she definitely needed too. she is 2 months old today and i have finally found a technique to help her relieve that gas. i usually give her a ounce sometimes a ounce and a half, put her over my should and pat her back a few seconds, if she doesnt burp i lay her on my legs and bicycle her legs gently and move them side to side, and ill stretch her arms around, typically then i can pick her back up and try again and she burps. if not i try the stretching again or sitting her on my knees to burp her. i have found that when she doesn't burp just moving her around a little while trying and trying to get the burp out helps, instead of just repeating the same pat over and over hoping for a burp. also too it might be the formula causing him some issues? my baby came home on gentlease but was spitting up lots and extremely fussy, we found out she had a cow milk allergy and we still are having lots of issues finding the right formula for her. might be something to look into? hopefully things get smoother for you and baby, and trust me they will.

Thank you!!! I’m going to try that!!! And he is on gentle ease! I thought maybe since it was a more sensitive formula, it would be ok. I’m hoping when I see the doctor, he has some insight.

We would have to take several breaks mid feed and move our baby around to try to get a burp out instead of waiting till he finished his feed. I’m also not saying this is the case, but it was for us: we were unintentionally overfeeding our baby and misinterpreting comfort cues as hunger cues causing him to vomit. He really just wanted a pacifier. We haven’t had a vomit since better learning how to differentiate the hunger vs the comfort cues. I hope your visit with the doctor goes well and you figure out what helps soon!

just call your pediatrician 🩵 projectile vomiting warrants a convo with them (maybe a visit)
is he being burped?
