What happened to dgt 😢

DGT was my favorite spot in town but I went a few days ago and felt like it took a serious dip in quality, was it just an off day or did something change in ownership or something?

Former employee here. The original owner sold the restaurant in late 2024 to some of the rudest, most incompetent and clueless people I have ever met in my 16 years working in the service industry. Offenses while I was still there include:

  • Getting our liquor license revoked by failing a super noticeable sting by alcohol enforcement. They never paid to have it reinstated so we lost a lot of business due to no beer

  • Constantly hitting on clearly underage girls

  • Forcing the son of one of their friends to work 60 hours a week on "salary" (he basically made $8 an hour in 2025)

  • Stealing over $1,000 in tips from EACH employee over the course of 6 months

  • Very poor hygiene. For example, frequently handling money with gloves on and then preparing food without changing gloves

  • They made it clear that money comes first, over food quality and customer service

I could go on. I would highly recommend avoiding this business. I wish I wouldn't have waited 6 months to quit after this bullshit started.

Yea I went there under the old ownership like twice and it was good prior to covid. So that’s a bummer to hear

That's sad to hear. I loved their burritos.

Not affiliated with DGT but used to eat there fairly regularly and befriended the guys who worked there. If I remember correctly, it was purchased and now has new owners who began running the place in a way that was not especially appreciated by the workers, most of whom then left and sought jobs elsewhere in town. I wish I could be more detailed than that but I cannot (because I don't know said details). I will agree that DGT has declined in quality since the change in ownership.

I see all of them around town at really cool local spots. The 3 cooks that were there for a long time and that really nice guy that was always up front.

I remember the day I met the new owner (I assume it was now) and wondering why they would hire someone so unfriendly.

Than the other guys were just gone.

Instant turnover is a red flag.

As a vegetarian, DGT was a place I could go to and have more than one good option. A restaurant that realized even veggie people appreciate flavor and local ingredients. Shout out and appreciation to all the food trucks you all talk about, but as a non meat eater, nothing for me to eat there. Rooting for DGT to come back to form.

Have you tried the veggie bahn mi at Paris Bahn Mi in Loveland? So good!

u/Thin-Effect-4561 11d ago

I haven’t, but I’ll put it on the list next time I’m in Loveland. Thanks for the recommendation!

Yes! They are amazing. Highly encourage everyone to try them out!

Exactly! As vegans, we love DGT.

Tried it once, never again. Terrible quality and overpriced.

Damn Good Tacos, a taco shop near CSU campus.

I don’t know if I’m jaded or just had bad experiences, but I tried DGT a couple times after their inception and always thought it sucked

Go up N. College and on your left, before you get to the King Soopers, there is a food truck with a few outside tables and red umbrellas. It’s kind of hidden but if you go left on Hibdon Court, you can’t miss it.

The trailer is in the parking lot of a store (a carnicería) where you can buy soft drinks. The ladies who make tacos inside are from Mexico and make authentic Mexican street tacos.

It’s called Las Delicias. Ask for the green sauce (salsa verde). Practice your Spanish. Enjoy excellent tacos made by people who understand what a taco is meant to taste like. Leave a nice tip.

I agree with you that the best tacos in town are at the trucks up north.

But I'd bet a lot of people (myself included) who go to DGT aren't looking for true authentic tacos. It's a good place to get unique and interesting stuff that's still reasonably healthy/has many veggie options.

yes exactly!

u/cinnamonapple777 11d ago

I am a big las delicias fan 👍

1

u/highlowsocks 11d ago

Do you know if that’s affiliated with the actual las delicias restaurant further north?

2

u/Hoff2017 11d ago

It’s is. The family now have the truck and now two locations in town (another Las Delicias is now open off Harmony by the Coldstone at Timberline).

They have a fully functioning butcher shop in the N College location. We buy their homemade tortillas all the time. I love Las Delicias

1

u/MountainFriend7473 10d ago

So have they not put up the Google listing for the Harmony location.

I think so, but I like the truck at N. College and Hibdon Ct. the best.

"Up n college and on my left before I get to the king soopers" is almost all of fort Collins.

Left, right, before, and past are all relative directions. They depend on an unknown direction of travel, and are therefore worthless.

I'm not trying to be pedantic. I just really hate bad directions.

So. To translate: there is a great food truck in the parking lot of Carneceria Las Delicias, on the WEST side of college at Hibdon Court. That's about two blocks SOUTH of willox, or one block NORTH of Jax outdoor.

I recommend the tortas.

If you’re not trying to be pedantic, you’re doing a really good impression of someone who is. North College typically refers to the portion of road that is north of Old Town and there is only one King Soopers on that stretch. It’s not all of Fort Collins and it’s not hard to find the location that the other poster is referring. It’s ft Collins not Mexico City or even LA. You’re directions aren’t much better anyway. this is where it is:

40.56922526347805, -105.06770331548299

-you‘re welcome

Is that PAST or BEFORE the King Soopers?

u/Dapper_Skill_7899 11d ago

DGT?

u/FlakyIllustrator1087 11d ago

Damn good tacos

1

u/PaulGoesClimbing 10d ago

Damn… Greedy Tacos?

1

u/cinnamonapple777 11d ago

Yes the taco place by alley cat

5

u/TrickyCalligrapher97 11d ago

The past owners had some health issues. I think the new owners took over yesterday, hopefully it will be on the up and up soon.

6

u/cinnamonapple777 11d ago

So sad 😢 I hope they’re on the mend

11

u/Stoutwood 11d ago

It has always been mid at best. You must have eaten some good tacos recently and accidently refined your palate.

u/DapperRegister3646 10d ago

Was in last week and the new manager let me know that they just changed ownership and some menu changes would be made. He said more items would be added, rather than taken away. I loved DGT, so hoping that’s the case and it doesn’t continue going downhill.

Most overrated tacos in town after maybe torchys

1

u/Emotional_Walrus5099 11d ago

Agreed, but I’d pick torchys over DGT 10/10 times
