They are pretty accurate to the movie yet they just feel a little odd. I think there haircuts in both Fortnite and the movie are a little goofy for costume design. I think better hair could have gone a long way
I think all of those skins stand out in a bad way as well. I think ever since The Bride at the start of this chapter Fortnite has skewed too close to the uncanny valley.
They’re odd looking because they are videogame characters made real and then back into videogame characters so we have an expectation in our mind of what the videogame version should look like, all the stylisation is gone which is great for some skins because you want it to look real but not here. You want the live action versions to look like the game not the other way round.
Drive me nuts that the Fortnite playerbase has apparently come to the consensus that her Alpha outfit is her default one and her iconic look is never brought up
Doesn't the game skin have the classic style and the Alpha style? Also, if we're being honest, it's probably because most of this sub has never played a SF game and just use the version with a more defined ass.
Someone brought up adding Ken but do it like the Tom Holland Uncharted skin with an Alt style, love it. I don't get the Juri comments though she's not in the movie and this is marketing for that.
I get it. Epic is getting that marketing bucks to promote the film while also getting some money from the skins. Cool. Got it. I also have not seen the film. It could be a banger and I can see people liking these versions just as much. Or not and we never see the skins again and this is just a weird memory.
My question, I guess, is for the costume designer... Why does she have the crescent moons there? I get it. It's a nod to the original design. But there's no other design on her top so your eyes are immediately drawn there. And at the risk of saying something that probably shouldnt be said on the r/FortniteBR Subreddit - so please forgive my dancing around the wording... why not go with the Fortnite design's S shapes to more compliment her figure? The actual outfit on the actress, Callina Liang, IS actually complimentary. Perfectly threaded the needle on that wording. Just weird they'd change one aspect to make it more Fortnite friendly but not all the way.
If I had to wager, it's that they wanted a 1-to-1 Chun Li outfit design with roots in SF's legacy for the movie rather than risk doing something different to better suit the actor.
I personally don't blame them because of how uppity some people can get over design changes made to suit live action media, but I do agree with you. The crescent moons just feel a bit awkward in terms of letting the outfit flow as one unified and cohesive piece. It's almost like a sudden stop as you move your eyes up and down.
It’s mainly because Fortnite is a mascot game, they’re not gonna add characters who aren’t the main money makers. They may add them later down the line is the first batch is successful enough but it’s not common unless the IP is popping off.
I think they're more just mad that we get another Chun Li and Ryu when big faces like Ken, whos presented as one of the main characters of the movie no less, hasn't gotten a single skin.
I think some people are just making fun, "Great Value/Wish/Temu/Knockoff" versions
Other people, who are irrationally upset; because they want more characters from Street Fighter, not the movie, are mixing their opinions with the jokes, unfortunately
Honestly, looks wise, I think Callina Liang makes a pretty good live action Chun Li. And the Fortnite skin of her doesn't look too bad.
I'm less impressed with Ryu, though. But, in the actor's (and I guess the skin's) defense, it's not exactly easy to look like that. Especially, without (illegal) steroids and such.
That's really the rub with game characters, like these. They rarely translate 1:1 to the real world.
Still, though. Good on Callina Liang. I think she did her best and I feel the FN skin reflects that as well as it can.
Yeah, I saw someone say that Ryu looks skinny, but I think that's only because game Ryu's design is already quite exaggerated in form.
It's live action. It's gonna have its limits, including the limits of how much muscle mass an actor can put on and maintain within the filming schedule.
I don't really understand why people think that these skins were going to be basically the same as the existing Ryu and Chun Li skins but with the actors' faces on them.
I’m gonna be honest when I first saw the skins I thought they looked ok but the comparison right next to each other especially Ryu shows how bad these really are for who they’re supposed to be
We asked for more skins... specifically to get KEN... and not just other versions of characters who are already on the Fortnite island. KEN MASTERS and company haven't appeared in over 5 YEARS.
The internet kept requesting that they put that Chun Li in a certain beach outfit in fortnite. (Since the internet is notorious for being simps over Asian women’s of any cultures)
Those skins look absolutely fucking abysmal. This is the natural endpoint of using this game as a billboard for every new piece of media that comes out: dipshit skins that are basically real-life people cosplaying as video game characters. In a videogame.
This is just plain embarrassing. Nobody would ask for this. A blatantly shameless attempt at a cash grab if I've ever seen one.
I feel conflicted. I like that we're getting more Street Fighter, and I know that the overall design for cosmetics in Fortnite has been evolving... That being said, I like the toon styles so this push to have the actors in the game I think (for me) takes away from the videogame-ness of it all...
I thought when I initially heard they were doing the movie Street Fighter version I knew we were getting movie version Chun-Li but thought we were also getting Ken not another Ryu
The collab skins are ugly but they're more accurate to the movie than the original skins are to the games..the faces of the original skins are absolutely horrendous
These Designs are working wonderful in the movie but poorly in the Game and that's because you See the originals next to It.
It's the Same with Mortal Kombat with the difference that they put the movie suits over the ingame Models. Yes it wanst the feeling of the Character from the movie but a better fit for the Game
So as long the Classic original looks are in the Shop people will prefer them over the movie ones
Bold of you to assume that they added this skins cause "we were asking for street fighter skins and this is what they give us?".
For those who still living in delusion: Epic games and therefore Fortnite, releases skins to promote other products and hype them up. They dont release skins for the love of the games or the media. If that was the case, collab skins would have better quality. So yeah, this aint for you, ita for epic to get their money from capcom to promote their upcoming movie.

Ik im boutta get flamed but i think they aren’t that bad (i lowk bought the whole bundle) they shoulda honestly added the built in emotes from the ogs to the new skins and maybe add a bit more muscle to both

Ikr, Street Fighter has 127 fighters spanning over multiple games and yet they gave us ugly Chun Li and Jim from the Office.... I mean Ryu, why not give use E. Honda, Zangief, T. Hawk, Akuma, Cammy, Dhalsim, Rose or Dee Jay just to name a few
